AOKP Jelly Bean build 3 released, solid for phones

AOKP Jelly Bean build 3 released, solid for phones
The Android Open Kang Project team has released the 3rd build of its new Jelly Bean custom ROM today, just over one week after build 2 was released, and there are some nice new features in this version. It's not the huge update that build 2 was, but this should be a solid bump for those of you using AOKP on your smartphone, although it may not necessarily be something you have to jump for if you're using it on a tablet.

The update expands availability on phones, and now includes support for both the Sprint Galaxy Nexus, and Sprint Nexus S 4G. Additionally, the team has added support for both the international Samsung Galaxy S 2 Exynos edition (i9100), and OMAP edition (i9100g), as well as the international Samsung Galaxy S 3 (i9300).

As far as features added, again those mostly help out smartphone users with SMS QuickReply, IME Switcher & Vib/Ring toggle as NavRing target, and fixing a bug which prohibited setting custom ringtones. The update also adds: Stopwatch & Countdown in the Clock app (CM), and Expert Calculator functions (Graph, Matrices, etc.) (CM).

If you're interested in the update just head to the source for the links.

You should check out the unofficial AOKP Linaro builds over at xda. Much faster and a lot more stable.

Yep. Linaro + Jelly Bean's project butter is amazing. This rom is by far the fastest and most stable my Galaxy Nexus has been on. The AOKP Build 3 of it is already up. I'm about to flash that one now. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881680

I just flashed it so far so good. Let me know what you think. Just make sure you flash a Linaro kernel. They have some listed in the OP.

Been running AOKP since like ICS Build 10. It's only the best.

I've been on AOKP since ICS build 7. It was nowhere as big as it is now. I came from Redemption ROM. I've been on the AOKP Linaro builds since some random date before JB build 2. I will be sticking with the much faster and more stable AOKP Linaro builds from now on.

you should try the Codename Android JB ROM, it's pretty sick. it brings the best of AOKP and then some. o:

Does anyone know if this build incorporates the new radios?

Radios aren't included in ROMs, and must be flashed separately.

Someone please help me out by answering if you can please. What do I need to do to download this rom? Do I have to root? Also, does it give a group text messaging option in the default messenger app? (I'm using a Galaxy Nexus). I used GO SMS PRO but I'd much rather have my default text app for that feature.

yes, you should root (even if you dont need to, but you more than likely do). AOKP and Cyanogen are like "Stock +". They dont generally change the apps unless they are adding functionality. You'd need to go to the site to get an exact answer. Generally though, if its a stock option, it should be there still.

Ok thanks. I have to research all this now, I have no idea how to root nor how to install all this lol.

Google one click root for Galaxy Nexus. Very simple, just follow the instructions and don't panic.

Is that on that website? Or a different application of some sort?

you want to know if you can text multiple people in a single thread?

Yes, like iMessage on the iPhone.

it doesn't work like that with the baked in app. i just checked.

So this AOKP thing doesn't unlock anything of the sort huh? I saw this rom once made by someone that unlocked a group text feature in the baked text app. I figured this might have done that too.

you can send to multiple peeps in a thread in the normal SMS, i dont remember, but I think it splits into individual threads as peeps reply.

yeah, you can do that on like anything. i remember the Razr's stock ICS build could do what he's talking about but not AOKP yet.

well you need to press download... and the computer downloads it for you(amazing right? *winks*) You need to root. rooting will not void your warrenty unless you take it to the verizon store while it is possible to check it your phone is rooted if you phone got ran over by a truck then the verizon people aren't going to find out if you unroot your phone then verizon people aren't going to find out.(you cant unroot a custom rom, but just restore stock rom backup and you should be find)
