A preview of the N97 Mini reveals the device is not worth it
There´s been quite a hype over the smaller sibling of the Nokia N97 in the last months. The preview made by Mobile-Review gives more detailed information about the features and overall look of the device. It reveals that the advantages of the Mini version of the phone are its metal battery cover, high quality of workmanship, kinetic scrolling and smaller size. The shortcomings are its less handy keyboard, the lack of protective camera cover and decreased amount of memory (8GB). According to Eldar Murtazan with Mobile-Review, the difference in the prices will probably be around 100 EUR. Moreover, he hints at other Nokia models equipped with touch-sensitive screens that will come featuring pretty much the same functionality as the N97 Mini and the recently announced 5800 Navigation Edition, only all functions will be implemented better.

What do you think the new Nokia models would be like? Are you of the opinion that the product lineup needs a new look or it´s about time Nokia revised the operating system itself?

The product line does NOT need a new look. The one they have now is great. They do however need to start using better materials. I know they probably don't want to because the Eseries have been built with metal parts, but its time to start letting the Nseries devices have some of that too. I'm glad to see this has a metal battery cover. It's what the N97 should've had to prevent some of that creaking back there. But the look they have in general is very good. I like the design of the volume rocker and camera key a lot and how that line wraps all the way around the phone. I'm not a big fan of the way the call send and end keys were layed out here though. They look silly like that. But I am glad it doesn't say Nokia in the chrome surrounding the display. I can't stand that on the N97, and I don't like it any-more-so on the N900.
