A free version of Toy Defense 3: Fantasy is available on iTunes now

Toy Defense 3: Fantasy, which was released roughly a month ago, is a game that belongs to the genre you either hate or love – tower defense. The title was initially priced at $1.99, but a free, ad-supported version of the game, dubbed Toy Defense 3: Fantasy Free, has been just released on iTunes. Apart from the ads, there are vritually no differences between the two versions of the game.

The first two games of the series, Toy Defense 1&2, depicted World War I and World War II, but Toy Defense 3: Fantasy takes an unexpected turn and carries us back to a fantasy version of the 10th century. The game requires you to defend your medieval castle from the vast waves of evil creatures that continuously spawn at your borders. Players have to build their defensive towers on strategic places over the map and try to prevent the oncoming foes from reaching the stronghold. There are several baddies in Toy Defense 3: Fantasy Free – they vary from little goblins that won't cause much damage, to enormous dragons that will wreak havoc upon everything they see. In order to successfully battle with the various monstrosities, players can build and upgrade their own armies – yes, only puny peasants are available at first, but these can be upgraded to more powerful units as the game progresses. Several 'super-weapons', such as meteor strike and freeze, will help you get rid of those pesky enemies.

One of the more interesting features of Toy Defense 3: Fantasy Free is the ability to fast-forward the gameplay. Hit the Fast Forward button and the enemies will be at the doorstep of your towers or your castle in no time. While fast-forwarding, players receive a slightly higher gold bonus for eliminating a foe.
