In an effort to spread the word about the Windows Phone Mango handsets coming to market, Microsoft has teamed with social media metrics firm Klout to give away 500 free handsets and tickets to one of five VIP parties. Winners will be determined by an entrant's Klout score and proximity to one of the parties.
Klout is a service that analyzes your social media accounts to see how much influence you have on the social networks you belong to. Microsoft's partnership with Klout is designed to get those movers and shakers on the internet to get a free Windows Phone so that they can talk about it-preferably in a positive light. The guys with the highest Klout scores are the ones that everyone listens to online and whose opinions are respected by others. It really is a clever move by Microsoft and we can expect to see more manufacturers trying the same thing.
