5 things that would've made the Galaxy Note 7 even more awesome

5 things that would've made the Galaxy Note 7 even more awesome
So, yesterday, Samsung finally unveiled the Galaxy Note 7 — its latest and greatest superpowered phablet. And for what it is, it's an amazing device. You've got the glass-and-metal sandwich build, the curved display, iris scanner, awesome camera, enhanced Always-on Display features, the S Pen, and everything we loved about the S7 edge crammed in this new handset. Essentially, it has the potential of topping many “best smartphone you can buy” lists for the rest of the year.

However, perfection is still a few steps away from the Note 7. And yes, most gripes one would have with the new phablet can be considered nitpicking, but there are a few flaws, which we find a bit harder to swallow. Check them out:

It would have been easier if you just said "I hate Samsung"

Because he deflects from his obvious point of hating Samsung. He isn't fooling anyone.

I never said I hated Samsung. I have a Samsung TV, the Gear Fit 2, and a Samsung soundbar. Just because I talk about their phones doesn't mean I hate everything about Samsung. Oh I'm sorry, was I supposed to give fuel to the fire?

Someone turned good suddenly after Note 7 release. Now he is on the other side of fence until iPhone 7 release. ;)

The design as in the glass on the back? In my opinion, this is one sexy phone.

You don't like TouchWiz, I get (I love it though), But which part of the design do you don't like? because it looks better than any other flagship/non-flagship phone, it is water resistant and it packs a big battery. How does the iPhone 6S or the upcoming iPhone 7 looks better than the Note 7?

I think the S-Pen is why the battery is a little smaller.

I think you have a point there. But the galaxy notes have always had a bigger battery than the S series though, even with the S-pen..

You do realise times has change, ask yourself did Samsung have bigger siblings and more variants of the S-series before?

its bigger.. if you comparing 5.1 inch S series to note series... but not always bigger if you compared it to non-5.1 inch S series... S6edge+ have same battery with note5

But "non 5.1 S series" are actually siblings!

I think you have a point either but you forgot something Well let me remind you.. s-line used to be 5.1"and not 5.5" found on the s7edge ,, be fair and compare s7 and not the edge version to the Note7.. 3000mah vs 3500mah.. the note is still very winning

Yes. But none of them has a battery that was 3500Mah though. Also consider, the Note was much larger than the older S series models. For example, the S3 was only 4.8, while the Note II was 5.5" The S4 was 5" while the Note 3 was 5.7 The S5 was 5.1" while the Note 4 was 5.7 The S6 is 5.2" and the Note 5 is 5.7 The S6 Edge+ was 5.7" and thus it had the same battery size as the Note 5. But every other S was a much smaller device and thus had a much smaller battery. Did you consider that? Considering that the Galaxy S7 Edge is 5.5" and the Note 7 is 5.7", all the space that would have been the extra battery size is taken away by the S-Pen and possibly the tech related to the scanner. Look at the dimensions of the S7 Edge vs the Note 7. 153.5 x 73.9 x 7.9 mm (6.04 x 2.91 x 0.31 in) VS 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7 mm (5.94 x 2.86 x 0.30 in) As you can see the Note 7 isn't that much bigger. If the Pen wasn't inside the Note, you see that if the dimensions remained the same, you could actually put a larger cell in the Note vs the S7 Edge.

Well, it does have a bigger battery than the S7. Traditionally, you only had the S and the Note. Now, you have another device in the mix, nearly the size of the Note, but no S-Pen taking up internal space.

True, also the streamlining has to taken into account. I'm glad to see it jump 500mah though.

it's actually hilarious watching people lose their minds over the 2.7% difference in battery between the s7 edge and note7.acting like the difference will be over 2 hours of SOT. And im just here like "but...but..blue coral"

Samsung better release all the colours, because I want that blue coral note 7, and not wait 3 months for It to be available.

How? The Note 5 is similar in size to the Note 7 yet they were able to fit a 3500 mAh battery verses a 3000 mAh. They had the capability to put a bigger battery in the Note 5 but it was a strategic move not to so they could say how much better the 7 is. Just watch Samsung put a 4000+ mAh battery in the Note 8 while being similar in size. They jewed us.

It's slightly smaller in two dimensions, but bigger in the third - thickness.

obviously.. and everyone should stop comparing note series battery to S edge series battery..

Smaller battery because of the S Pen? That's no excuse!

52. tedkord

Sure it is. The pen port takes up space inside.

We better be thankful they were able to fit this size of a battery, because compared to the past Notes, 2 had 3,100, 3 had 3,200, 4 barely improved, 5 downgraded to 3,000 and now 3,500 for the 7

The thinness of the phone is why the battery is smaller. They could have made it a little thicker to give 4000 or more mAh.

The question is, what the hell happened to SD821, 4,000mah battery, 6gigs ram, dual cameras, continuum Mode, and the blackberry security software that we saw earlier? Smh
