10 great images captured with smartphones #116

We're back with the 116th post in our special photographic-centric series where we present you with a number of awesome images taken by... well, you (and your cell phones).

So, which picture did you like most last time? The answer is AurelM's photo, taken with the Apple Iphone 5S. And a pretty well-deserved first place it is, we should say!

Of course, there are many other incredible images left to be seen. Let's continue with another set of 10 pics, each of which can easily convince even the most professionally-inclined photographer that cell phones are more than a toy in the camera department.

Please note that if your own awesome image is not included here, this doesn't mean that it won't end up on the site. We simply might not have gotten to it yet! So, we urge you to continue following us, as we'll be publishing more of these truly great photos in the following days and weeks.

We'd also like to remind you that you can continue submitting your cool cell phone pics to the following email address:

In order to not miss on all the glory, you also have to mention your name/nickname, as well as the phone you used to take the shots. A nice additional piece of info would be a name or a short description for the image.

With that, we now leave you with our 116th set of favorite photos...

Which photo do you like most?

Wow, I don't know what most people here are talking about. I thought this was a great set of photos. A lot of good conceptualization in these shots. Try evaluating a photo for what it's attempting to depict...not how well it aligns with your personal preferences. At least that is how I try to look at things...

i don't get why cameras on a smartphone need to be better and better if then a "poll" with 10 really lacking images are being shown... filtered (instagram-type) pictures are just poor and a 3mpx cam would suffice. Plus pictures taken straight into the sun are rarely great nor impressive. in general these are really boring and unimpressive pictures.

Does MI4 has the same purple tint issue like HTC One M7, or is it just a filter? For my preference, it's hard to decide between #4 and #7.

It's not about the subject of the photo. It's about the quality.

How you can judge on quality on resized photos?

It's about choice of subject, timing, framing, execution

It is about the subject (and the quality, and the composition). I could take a RAW image with an LG V10 of something hwarked up by a cat, and it wouldn't be a "great image". I'm not saying these are bad pictures - some are kinda cool. Like "upload to facebook" and get some likes from your friends and your mother that likes everything you post. But National Geographic and the Pulitzer committee won't be giving any of these a 2nd glance.
