There are some reasons to expect the Xiaomi Mi 4i to be introduced on April 23rd. The name popped up recently in Singapore’s IDA (Infocomm Development authority) database where a 2015 model with the Xiaomi Mi 4i name was certified. A phone with the Mi 4i moniker was run through the GeekBench3 benchmark test which revealed that the phone was powered by a Qualcomm 64-bit octa-core processor with a clock speed of 1.65GHz. 2GB of RAM was on board. From the looks of things, the Xiaomi Mi 4i appears to be a lower-spec'd device than the Xiaomi Mi 4, which is powered by a Snapdragon 801 CPU and features 3GB of RAM inside.
At this point, pricing and availability are both unknown. It will be interesting to see which countries will be getting this mid-range model. A possible clue to the importance of this announcement is the word that Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, president Bin Lin, and Global VP Hugo Barra will all be attending. Stay tuned.
Thanks for the tip!
