XOLO to debut new Intel powered “fastest smartphone ever” on March 14th, in Goa, India
Several hours before Samsung’s banner event in New York, on the other side of the world in Goa, India, XOLO will be lifting the curtain off a successor to the X900, the company’s first “premium” handset, and the first smartphone with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor.

That CPU was from Intel’s Medfield series of processors. It is anticipated that this new device, whatever it may be called, will be packing new silicon from the new Clover Trail+ line of CPUs. The processors will be available in three calibrations, 2.0GHz (Z2580), 1.6GHz (Z2560) and 1.2GHz (Z2520). The Clover Trail+ chips support full HD and HSPA+, but LTE is not supported.  For a device dedicated to the Indian market that is not a loss as LTE is only available on one major carrier.

On the graphics front, the new Intel CPUs each have two PowerVR SGX 544MP2 GPUs, so the graphic performance should be decent. The Clover Trail+ will also support up to a 2MP camera in the front and up to 16MP for the main camera. Intel claims that the CPU will support up to 15 frames per second when the camera is in burst mode.

As for the upcoming device itself, we do not know a whole lot, other than what the rendering in the small scale press invitation reveals, the “fastest smartphone ever with Intel inside,” a shiny finish edge with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a power/lock button. We will let you know what is behind the curtain while we gear up for the Samsung unveiling of the Galaxy S4.

Come on... give Tusshar Ishware a break! I wouldn't know how to say or write the past tense of shoot in his native language in India much less carry on a dialogue. The way I see, he was able to communicate what he was trying to say and I was able to completely understand.

And now according to the pro-tech geeks, GSIV is now obsolete, like how HTC One is obsolete to GSIV and Xperia Z to HTC One plainly from spec sheets, without seeing the device or have a feel of it

Two SGX544MP2?
Does that equal SGX544MP4? (the likely GPU in the Galaxy S4)

5. feres13 posted on 10 Mar 2013, 05:04 1

The GS4 is going to have a SGX544MP3, and this is iwo MP2s, it's like comparing two GTX680 to a GTX690, performance should be better but i think that not a lot of games are going to be optimized for dual GPUs

7. MrOmkar posted on 10 Mar 2013, 05:31 1

sgIt doesn't mean like that, Maxwell means to say that processor includes 2 blocks of PowerVR SGX544 GPU on chips hence SGX 544 MP2. If it would have included 3 blocks then it would have been SGX 544 MP3.It's common in mobile chips.

32. adwaith.p posted on 10 Mar 2013, 16:28

Guys please!!
Two GPU's in a smartphone!?

Read this: download.intel.com/newsroom/kits/mobileworld/2013/pdfs/Intel_Atom_Processors_Brief.pdf (sorry, copy-paste in browser please)

Its not two GPU's, just one same GPU(SGX 544MP2) at different clock speeds.

Hm, maybe Samsung should just use the clover trail for the GS4 if it is really up to the standards of intel i5 series but with power savings like ARM. Samsung would win any contract anyways. If they want 50 million Qualcomm 600/800, they got it. If they want 50 million clover trail + chips, they got it.

I wonder if Qualcomm would be allowed to delay the Qualcomm 600 HTC order on their contract for the GS4 order. That might be the best strategy for Samsung. 50 million Qualcomm 600 chipsets please! Ring ring, um...sorry HTC...those Qualcomm 600 chips you order are going to be a few weeks late.

26. Taters posted on 10 Mar 2013, 12:29 1

Just to put things into perspective. It is easy to make the fastest phone in the world. Just use a low resolution screen and clock the fastest chip set you can afford to the max. Then use the barest UI you can possibly find, even better performance if you remove the ability to download any apps or files. Then that would be the fastest. Might have a really ugly screen and no battery life and overheat, but it will be the fastest.

How do you think Apple does it? The screen is below 720p so it looks good in benchmarks. IOS is stripped to the most basic essentials so it is the lightest skin to push ever. This also allows a tiny battery. If that is the way you want to go though.

To be fair. 1080p might be overkill and might just slow things down for no reason but I guess I have to judge for myself.
