User Agent Profile confirms 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 screen
We expect the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to offer a 5.7 inch screen, powered by the Snapdragon 805 CPU in certain regions, and an octa-core Exynos processor in other regions. 3GB of RAM is said to be inside and the phablet has been tipped to arrive with the same fingerprint sensor that is employed on the Samsung Galaxy S5. The Samsung S Pen will come with the phone (either that, or Samsung has wasted a ton of money and time on video teasers).
We will be providing extensive coverage of Samsung's event, along with events planned by the other manufacturers at IFA. And don't forget Apple's September 9th festivities. Keep your browser right here!

People will say that's a troll comment lol.
72. JMartin22 (Posts: 1287; Member since: 30 Apr 2013)
Lol, given his track record (and yours quite frankly) it's pretty easy to see through the illusion of an "impartial" statement.
84. darkkjedii (Posts: 13479; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Man shut up dude, your comments are like jokes man...really.
107. JMartin22 (Posts: 1287; Member since: 30 Apr 2013)
Coming from an imbecile who pretends to be tech literate by stamping his "approval" on some Apple products occasionally discussed in an article. Point is, Mxy baiting when he made that comment obviously and you decided to help lol. You're not deceiving people who see you for what you are.
115. darkkjedii (Posts: 13479; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
See post 84, and I love the fact that I really irritate you imbecile. Your dislike for me seems personal, even though you've never met me. I like that boy.
116. darkkjedii (Posts: 13479; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Nor am I trying too. IDGAF what he does.

98. darkkjedii (Posts: 13479; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
How will a phone kick my ass? I'd love for you to explain that. Unless the note 4 I buy explodes or something. That was your stupidest post yet, and your post are really really stupid. Lolz
99. g2a5b0e (Posts: 2908; Member since: 08 Jun 2012)
I fail to see the sense in that one as well. Wtf?!
103. darkkjedii (Posts: 13479; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Yeah fellas, that was the dumb post of the day.

Troll somewhere else Darkkjedii & Mxyzptlk
105. g2a5b0e (Posts: 2908; Member since: 08 Jun 2012)
You just got owned & that was the best comeback you could come up with? Go find a corner to hang your head in shame in.
106. darkkjedii (Posts: 13479; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Dude, just admit you made a fool of a comment, and had no comeback for it. That was stupid, pointless, and made no sense. Talk tech, or logoff.

A screen is a screen bro. Why do geeks go crazy over this stuff? No trolling…just a serious question lmao. Put a screen side by side in real life and not on paper or pictures, and you couldn't even tell.
Like I said. A screen is a screen.
16. geordie8t1 (unregistered)
Well the amoled displays of the newest samsungs are killer clear and bright put them aide by side with other lcd panels it is actually very noticable....but what is NOT noticable is the difference between 1080p and 2k displays :-)
19. Nathan_ingx (Posts: 3049; Member since: 07 Mar 2012)
I'd rather have a phone with better battery back up than one with a jacked up screen resolution. 1080p is still good enough for me...even for a 5.7 inched slab.
And won't a 64 bit system consume more power???
31. Ashoaib (Posts: 2499; Member since: 15 Nov 2013)
if we put an lcd and an lcd together then you are perfectly right, screen is a screen nothing more, nothing special....
but if we put SAMSUNG's SUPER AMOLED with lcd then screen is not a screen, then screen is a SUPER AMOLED
32. Vexify (banned) (Posts: 570; Member since: 16 Jun 2014)
ERMAHGAHD SHOOPER AMOHLEHD DISHPLAY ERMAHGAHD !!!!!!!!
Lol really…nothing special. Same thing as my Nexus. Same thing as my iPhone. They're all the same. SA screens are companies ways of marketing to geeks.
35. Ashoaib (Posts: 2499; Member since: 15 Nov 2013)
hmmm... bro, now I have to recommend you a thorough eye check up from a specialist... well I cannot suggest better specialist other than Smurf and darkkjedii ;)

Since you are doing me a favor, I'll do one for you and recommend a brain surgeon.

aaooO! you got angry... well thats ok... but smurf and jedii cannot be that :p

Lol no just laughing at all the fanboys and herd crawling at my disposal in the comments section. I mention one thing and they all go bonkers. Like really people, calm down hahah.

I think the iPhone user is suffering from screen envy.
78. Vexify (banned) (Posts: 570; Member since: 16 Jun 2014)
Screen envy lmao. My Nexus 5 and my iPhone 5s both look the same up against any other screen. Its all in your head =)
57. darkkjedii (Posts: 13479; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
You're right bro, I guess it's for bragging rights. When I'm banking, texting, emailing, using a note or calculator app, or a host of other things, I can give a rats ass about pentile, AMOLED, LCD, or whatever. As long as I can clearly see it in direct sunlight, that's enough. Think about Vexi, 95% of the time, the screen will be covered in fingerprints anyway lol. Who cares man, this gets ridiculous at times. Not pointing at you smurf, just generally saying bro, people make too big of a fuss about nothing most of the time.
70. PapaSmurf (Posts: 9076; Member since: 14 May 2012)
But see here's the thing. I appreciate my S5's AMOLED screen a hell lot more than when I had my M8. There is a night and day difference between the two, especially in the blues and blacks.
I'll make a comment on your post - it's not me being a fanboy because that's far from my goal, but there IS a difference between AMOLED and IPS/LCD3. I would have thought you would tell the difference b/w the 5S and N3... IMO, since the GS2, Samsung produces the best screens in their flagships every year.
85. darkkjedii (Posts: 13479; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
The differences are minute to me Smurf. When I say the ur all the same to me, I know some are a little brighter, some offer text that's a little more crisp, blacker blacks, whiter whites n stuff. This is the thing though, you're a phone buff like I am. I've never owned a device past the 14-30 buyers remorse window, that didn't fit the bill. All of them performed just fine, and got the real world job done...that's my point. It's not like you can see LCD, and not AMOLED, so basically they're all the same for everyday usage.
89. Ashoaib (Posts: 2499; Member since: 15 Nov 2013)
darkk, for daily tasks I do agree with you... bcoz more or less we are performing same type of tasks on the phone daily but if we are going for a comparison, specially edge to edge then there is a whole a lot difference in Samoled and lcds... I usually keep visiting tech stores for checking purpose and I found a lot difference since S5... there are users who are keen about the screens(like me) and based their preference on that
93. darkkjedii (Posts: 13479; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Will those differences stop you from seeing the screen, sending a text, seeing in sunlight, or watching YouTube? No, they're only noticeable when you place them side by side. That's my point dude.
114. Ashoaib (Posts: 2499; Member since: 15 Nov 2013)
by this definition even 240x320 screen cannot stop us from seeing, sending text, calls, you tube etc.... then why we bother for a good screen and high resolution? why dont we leave all expensive flagships alone? and settle down for some very budgeted set and buy a lottery ticket from rest of the money? I am getting your point but that point is not making me to convince about consumer buying behavior which is largely based on high numbers
117. darkkjedii (Posts: 13479; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
The fact that phones like that still exist, for the budget minded simply re enforces my point bro. All of them get the job done, and all of them fit someone's needs.
80. teerex42 (Posts: 171; Member since: 14 Jun 2012)
Disagree 1000% super amoled is superior to washed out lcd. I had the LG G3 for less than a week and took it back for the super amoled display goodness of the S5. The note 4 will blow everything else out of the water with not only a super amoled display but a quad HD super amoled display!!!!
77. T.Law (Posts: 370; Member since: 10 May 2014)
As if you're gonna notice it at this resolution.
Nobody cares about pentile anymore.

You mean the MOST BEAUTIFUL SCREENS EVER!
3. nohatenofanboy (banned) (Posts: 515; Member since: 15 Jul 2014)
thinner body and take my money. (or metal frame just like alpha) and full rgb lol
5. CanYouSeeTheLight (Posts: 973; Member since: 05 Jul 2012)
QHD should be more than enough to offset the pentile matrix. Also pentile should be easier on the battery.
7. nohatenofanboy (banned) (Posts: 515; Member since: 15 Jul 2014)
they have been saying it for 3 years but it never looks sharp to me. it should be rgb
17. maherk (Posts: 1370; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
Unless you have a magnifier instead of human eyes, there is NO way that your eyes can tell what pixel arrangement is used on a 1080 screen. The amoled 1080 screens are not sharp enough is a myth that was created by Sony fans and debunked by almost every other reviewer out there.
20. nohatenofanboy (banned) (Posts: 515; Member since: 15 Jul 2014)
oh cmon you havent look at displays ? just put s5 and htc one side by side and look at rounded letters or pictures and you will see the difference.
23. maherk (Posts: 1370; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
I compared the G3 and my S5 at a Tmobile store and I didn't see any difference.
Fyi, not just display mate, but major tech sites picked the S5's screen over the other flagships screens.
38. nohatenofanboy (banned) (Posts: 515; Member since: 15 Jul 2014)
lol Imafraid you have eye problem.. I always trust myself bcuz important thing is real life experience. I dont care what sites says.

"The amoled 1080 screens are not sharp enough is a myth that was created by Sony fans and debunked by almost every other reviewer out there."
No offense, but just about every human vision optics scientist will tell you subpixel layout does make a difference. The eye doesn't need to see the individual sub-pixels to notice that some object is slightly fuzzier on one screen vs. another.
Pentile AMOLED is notorious for fuzzy text when the text is dark on a light background -- which is a lot of Android apps, unfortunately. There are also a variety of cases where just simple shapes -- such as a shaded star -- will appear to have poor edge definition to the eye on a pentile AMOLED screen.

I was trying to say that thx
102. 0xFFFF (Posts: 3802; Member since: 16 Apr 2014)
It depends on what is being drawn at the screen. Anytime you reach a certain level of sharpness in what is being drawn in comparison to the screen's native resolution, there is chance for fuzziness.
AFAIK there is no global screen smoothing functionality in Android. That would prevent some to most of the fuzziness from being visible.

'Pentile AMOLED is notorious for fuzzy text' -
Any review or information to back that up ? Coz all the reviews I saw never mentioned anything about it. Even Erica Griffin who's display test are thorough then Displaymate's didn't say anything about it.
100. 0xFFFF (Posts: 3802; Member since: 16 Apr 2014)
"Any review or information to back that up"
I've posted links on PA before. I'd find the posts, but I've made too many posts :)
A simple experiment you can do with any pentile AMOLED display -- just display a screen full of black text on a light gray background, at different font sizes. You will see the fuzziness in the font outlines, more on some font sizes than others.
If you do the same experiment with equivalent high quality LCD screen, you will see much less fuzziness in the font outlines.
You'll see this sort of fuzziness with a variety of other color combos as well.

Erica griffin disputes displaymates claims of s5 amoleds color accuracy with pretty convincing evidenc... so i dont know why you mention both of them in one sentence.... :?
" Any review or information to back that up ? "
Galaxy Tab S 10.5 Display and Performance:http://youtu.be/VHDKXaIAf8E
Straight from erica griffins mouth.
I hold nothing against note or samsung or amoled, i just feel cheated getting 2/3rds of a pixel and oversaturation to cover up the fuzziness. Oversaturation is not accidentl ;)
And i have no need for a stylus. Typing, voice recording, camera, or just the finger, i can make do.
112. tech2 (Posts: 2573; Member since: 26 Oct 2012)
I am talking about his statement of 'notorious fuzy text' not Amoled's colour reproduction accuracy.
Anyway, some call it oversaturation and some call it vibrant. You only believe what YOU want to believe. If you think Erica Griffin, an independent youtuber with only 2 years experience and hardly enough resources to invest in high-tech display testing equipment, is believable then that's your prerogative.
Displaymate is much-much more experienced and reliable. Read about their testing method and you'll see how thorough it is. They have more then 50 awards for their testing procedure and is the most trustworthy name in tech circles.
If no one ever told you its pentile then would never notice the difference. Ever heard of placebo effect ?
119. YourNickname (Posts: 127; Member since: 14 Aug 2014)
1)And the link of the youtube video ADDRESSES the fuzziness
2) you first said this: " Even Erica Griffin who's display test are thorough then Displaymate's didn't say anything about it."
Then you said: " If you think Erica Griffin, an independent youtuber with only 2 years experience and hardly enough resources to invest in high-tech display testing equipment, is believable then that's your prerogative."
3)... there is no 3, you're a moron who name dropped, and so butthurt hes wrong he has to go discredit the source he name dropped himself. Lol perogative. Hahaha
