Upcoming Galaxy E7 specs confirmed by GFXBench, might start a new E-series for Samsung
Samsung might be ditching its yet-unreleased U series of Android handsets, in sync with its desire to shrink the confusing phone portfolio next year, but that doesn't preclude it from potentially launching a brand new E-series of midrangers. After releasing three Galaxy Alpha or A-series, and a fourth on the way, now it seems we will see a new E-series, with tentative Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7 titles.

The Samsung Galaxy E7 specs that were rumored by insiders before, are now confirmed by the GFXBench database, as the SM-E700 codename just popped up there, sporting a full list of midrange paraphernalia. Just as expected, the E7 will sport a 5.5" 720p display panel, a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 410, clocked at 1.2 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The rear camera resolution is pegged at 12 MP, while the 5 MP front shooter will output your video calls with 1080p quality.

In any case, these specs for the two handsets point to lower midrange level big-screen phones by Samsung, but we are more interested in the final design, as an eventual new series would warrant an overhaul in the looks department, too, like Samsung did with the Galaxy A-series with relative success.

I don't know why did they name it "E Series". A previous very well-known Nokia business smartphones series..

Samsung has some E**** phones for years. and those are usually low end phones.
so, it has nothing to do with Nokia E-series.

Although my next phone is going to be a N4, Samsung is bringing out too much phones. I don't think they understand what bringing out less phones means....

I thought they would come with less models, but maybe someone incorrectly translated the Korean article. Maybe Samsung is going to bring out more models to confuses the consumer more!

Every few weeks I read an article of a new model or a complete new line of phones.......They need to fire someone and just focus on the S line and the A (alpha) line. Just 6 phones world wide, or even better, make just 3 models period!

1 low-end, 1 mid-end and 1 high-end. How hard is that to come up with....They shoould make me a manager.

Instead of just 3 or 6 models worldwide, I'd like to see 1 or 2 series on each level for the sake of various markets. 2 similar definitively low end series with aged tech and nothing exciting for spec junkies targeted to the true budget seekers, 2 similar definitively midrange series that try to bridge the gap without stepping on anyone's toes, and 2 similar lines of high end series that bring only the very best of the best.

That pretty much seems like what they are doing

Galaxy S and Note at the top
A series upper mid range
E series low mid range
Something cheap for china and india.
