Toshiba Excite X10 tablet gets release and price info
Share:
The tag line for the Toshiba Excite X10 tablet has been that it will be the "thinnest and lightest" 10" tablet, but even before its official announcement it saw some competition on those claims from the Lenovo IdeaTab S2. The S2 has been announced as a 10" tablet at .3" thick and 1.1 pounds, while the Excite X10 is said to be .3" thick and 1.2 pounds. More exact millimeter measurements may show which is really the thinnest, but we're not sure how the weight war could change.
Still, the Excite X10 is a fine looking piece of hardware. It will be packing a TI OMAP 4430 processor, 1 GB of RAM, a 5 MP rear camera and 1.3 MP front camera. Unfortunately, it will launch with Android 3.2 Honeycomb, but will get the bump to Ice Cream Sandwich soon after release. And, that's where the real info is. Toshiba says the Excite X10 will be launching in the US in the middle of quarter one of this year.
There will be a 16 GB version of the X10 available for $529.99, and we'll assume that's for WiFi only. No word yet on other models.

Is Toshiba s**tting me? Only apple can price a tablet at $500+ and someone is stupid enough to buy it. I mean the tablet is great in all but seriously???
