The Onion: Uncle Ben's joining the smartphone race with own 5.3-inch handset
Straight from America's finest news source comes a humorous story involving two things that aren't easy to put together within the same context – smartphones and rice. Uncle Ben's, of all familiar brand names, intends to go head to head with Apple by introducing a smartphone of its own, The Onion reports.

The fictional Basmati phone, as it is called, is a 4G device with a 5.3-inch display sporting a pixel density of 285 ppi. The dual-core processor inside it runs at 1.5GHz and the camera on its back is of 8 megapixels. But that is just the start. Young folks can easily stay connected with friends and family thanks to the company's Instant Rice Messenger. The Basmati phone runs on Uncle Ben's proprietary, and entirely gluten-free, Long-Grain Operating System. To keep users entertained at all times, dozens of stir-fry recipes have been pre-loaded.

If somehow you have not realized it yet, this piece of news is just a joke poking fun at the fierce battle on the smartphone market and at the insatiable desire of U.S. consumers to own the hottest gadgets. At the same time, it reflects the attempts of every tech company in existence to come up with a smartphone of some kind, hoping to grab a slice of the expanding market. The entire satirical article is available at the source link, so feel free to check it out.

hahah had me going for a second, but I agree how companys are gettin out of hand with the size of smartphones....any phone beyond the 4.5 inch mark is really not necessary....seriously

Says you. Just because you don't want a phone larger than 4.5 inches doesn't mean no one else does. I'm 6'4" 225 lbs. & I was a wide receiver in college. In other words, I have very large hands. I've held the 5.3" Note & it doesn't feel unwieldy at all in my hand. I could even see myself with a slightly larger phone. Everyone I know so far with the 4.8" SIII swears by the size & say they would never go back to anything smaller & they are all average size people. No need to go applying what works for you to everyone else. To each, his or her own.
