Sony Xperia Z3 coming in August?
Yoshiro says that Sony must update certain models every six months in order to "maintain a flagship." He added that using a yearly release cycle would make it impossible for the Japanese manufacturer to catch up with the competition. Sony also plans on continued use of the OmniBalance design that debuted with the Sony Xperia Z and has been employed for the Sony Xperia Z1 and Sony Xperia Z2.
So circle August on your calendar. That is when we should see Sony taking the wraps off of the Sony Xperia Z3.
Thanks, Anonymous Tipster!

If you have the money why bother? Just like apple they don't force you to buy their products.

That would be interested to see :D But no... I'm planning on getting the Z2... now I don't know if I should wait for the Z3 now... ugh
23. cmatej000 (Posts: 13; Member since: 22 Jan 2013)
you can always wait for the next one, and then wait some more :)

Still rocking my z2 will wait for z4 but looking forward for the z3
27. james004 (Posts: 486; Member since: 15 May 2013)
i wanted Xperia Z but then Z had too many flaws so i waited and Z1 turned out to be a great phone. If u can wait. do so. plus the article in source has interview of product manager saying himself they will change the design.
do as cmatej000 said and if you have decent phone right now, dont rush.

I hope Z2 is almost flawless since they had Z and Z1 to learn their mistake from. I have been using Nexus 4 since it came out. Now, I just need something different. I think I'll be happy with the Z2 even when Z3 is out of the gate. I simply wants a water proof phone since I go out of the field during the summer for my job. It would be nice to be able to wash it a bit after :P

At least you're not waiting for a widespread release of Sony's phones in general, like I am in the States... And I'm waiting quite impatiently if I may add.

Z2 will give fight with S5, and Z3 will give fight with iphone6. Go Z2......and later Go Z3.
78. mac4best (Posts: 2; Member since: 04 Apr 2014)
In your dream yes, S5 better USB 3, Z2 only USB 2, S5 better processor, Z2 a cheaper model. S5 new LTE 4th generation, Z2 only normal LTE old version! Z2, the screen is IPS and it have bad viewing angles and its to dark, even when colors are more accurate. The rest is almost same on both, while only the design is beter on sony, but technicaly, S5 sexes Z2 ass! Well we will see Z3!

I called it. Rumors are already starting.
8. Lyngdoh (Posts: 229; Member since: 06 Sep 2012)
I won't call this a rumour. We all know that Sony have 2 flagship a year.
9. james004 (Posts: 486; Member since: 15 May 2013)
go troll samsung pages. leave sony alone at least.
18. maherk (Posts: 2709; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
And who gave you the right to tell him what to do? Last time I saw you, you were nagging like a little ***** about how much you hate the S5.
33. PapaSmurf (Posts: 10087; Member since: 14 May 2012)
I'm free to post whatever I want, where I want to. Last time I checked, you and 50 other users trolled Samsung articles so please stop being a hypocrite. Thanks. :)

lmao i cant with you calling people hypocrites. u give Sony so much flak for releasing a flagship phone once every 6 months but u support the biggest flooder in the market that releases a different variant almost every other month
17. maherk (Posts: 2709; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
Its not a rumor, Sony's Creative Director admitted that. As I told you before, expect them to fix their triluminus screen for the billion time.
21. hboy857 (Posts: 340; Member since: 03 Jun 2013)
What's wrong improving their technology? Are you afraid that if they keep improving they gonna bring out the best display technology?
Z2 address the main complain about z1, wash out display and puny speaker. But S5 failed to address their main weakness their *DESIGN : it's ugly as hell.
25. maherk (Posts: 2709; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
You think so? Go check phonearena Z2 vs Z1. The Z1 has better viewing angles, and the Z2 produces yellowish whites. And you think it will bug me if they kept improving? Lol I don't worship Samsung, I want to get the best out of my buck. Last sony I had was the Xperia S, hated it. Last Lg I had was the G2, I won't say hated, but it meh, and now I have the Note 3. Design wise, I don't give a damn as long as the back is removable, now I am rocking a black tempered glass with aluminum champagne gold trim. Flexibility is what I like about Samsung.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH YOU'RE THE DUMBEST PERSON I'VE SEEN FOR A WHILE AHAHAHHAHA!!! Z1 HAS BETTER VIEWING ANGLES THAN Z2????!!! HAHAHHAHA Such an idiot... :D :D :D :D :D
Kinda sad even...

Truth can cause hemorrhoid for Sony fans. If you can't find the article and check it yourself then there is nothing I can do for you.
67. Odiin (Posts: 339; Member since: 23 Apr 2013)
Really? Z1 has better viewing angel then Z2?
have a look
Just dont tell lies.
30. hboy857 (Posts: 340; Member since: 03 Jun 2013)
If it didn't bug you then why did you post a comment like " expect them to fix their triluminus screen for the billion time."
Did you read z1/z1s review. Please kindly check other tech review sites. Most of the tech site bash Sony for their washed out display and puny speaker.
Watch these videos and don't just post a comment just because you saw one video.
32. maherk (Posts: 2709; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
I said it doesn't bug me if they kept improving, not fixing faulty screen for over a year with no great progress. Learn how to read fanboy. And no, I didn't see just one video, articles are already up there about the new triluminus screen.
34. PapaSmurf (Posts: 10087; Member since: 14 May 2012)
It's okay. They'll still keep fixing the issues on the terrible screen with the Z2S and Z3 and the fanboys will still be all the wild.
53. Leonis (Posts: 338; Member since: 08 Jan 2014)
Next time check it in real life for yourself. z2 has a much improved viewing angles. It has everything you need on a phone unlike S5 who got poor protections, less memory, touchwiz, useless features like heartbeat sensor and fingerprint scanner. Is made of plastic and looks a lot worse.
The price is cheaper with z2 too. So for the money you get a lot more with z2.
35. Aaron_R96 (Posts: 198; Member since: 22 Jan 2012)
Wow, congratulations, you called it - for the last two years sony has always launched a new flagship at IFA.. Hardly needed much calling did it..
And oh by the way, samsung also release 2 flagships a year, in fact, the exact same as Sony, one at MWC (s series) and one at IFA (note) just cause they have different names it makes them no less flagship devices, so why criticise?
If you want an s5 be happy with you're own choice, although many people will likely think the z2 would be better for them because of the upgrades it offers over the s5 (eg s force speakers, 3gb ram, live colour led iPs display, 20mp camera, sonys ui etc) everyone prefers different things.
43. maherk (Posts: 2709; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
So basically and according to your stupid common sense, the Note series and the Galaxy S series are identical just like how all the Zsss are identical? Sony fans are the worst when it comes to using their common sense. I don't need to imagine how your response if the S6 was released in the next 5 months because we all know how you trolls work. Samsung actually waited 10 months to release the S5 and you attacked them claiming they rushed the S5 out of panic and due to low sales in the S4(when they actually had a record numbers in sales).
47. Aaron_R96 (Posts: 198; Member since: 22 Jan 2012)
I'm not trolling, just pointing out facts, sure you could argue they're different names, and perhaps once even in different smartphone categories due to the note's size, although 0.6" bigger hardly makes that the case any more, and not once did I claim that at all? The s5 is a good phone, although not the Greta phone a lot of people expected it to be..
All I was saying is that both sony and Samsung have 2 flagships a year, its just that samsungs are a tad more differentiated, but a buyer knows when they buy an s5, in just a few months time the note will be out and will be better than what they've just bought.. So it's exactly the same thing, why bash sony for it when Samsung and others do the same!?
48. maherk (Posts: 2709; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
Enough with your crazy nonsense, please! The Z ultra is the same as the Z2?
49. Aaron_R96 (Posts: 198; Member since: 22 Jan 2012)
Yeah cause that's exactly what I said..? So you guys are both basically saying that the note range isn't a flagship range and the s series is?
We could hardly call the z ultra a flagship, being a flagship isn't just about screen size and spec, it's also about the marketing, of which there was very little for the z ultra because the flagship was the z1...
60. varezhka (Posts: 5; Member since: 28 Jan 2014)
Yup, actually they talk about this strategy difference in the original interview article. That is, regarding Samsung and their two flagship device lines released half year apart as an alternative strategy.
Mr. Kurozumi said that he cannot discuss future strategies (such as branching the flagship lines), and that all he can say is that Z2 is the Sony flagship for the first half of 2014.
65. tenho1982 (Posts: 68; Member since: 29 Dec 2013)
It's not rumors. Sony will give you the impression that they are not behind iphone and Samsung S by generations.
By the end of 2016, Samsung will have the S7, iphone has the iphone 7 and Sony will have the Z7. That may also mean from 2017 Sony may change their strategy again to a yearly release of the Z series.

Ohhhh Stop it PA..... as soon as u get any news about a flagship you start putting up the news!!!!!! pleasr try to wait!!!!! please -_-
4. Lyngdoh (Posts: 229; Member since: 06 Sep 2012)
You got this very wrong PA. The original blog post says “not want to stick to a single design”
10. AliNSiddiqui (Posts: 382; Member since: 19 Sep 2012)
This is not true, look at HTC, it stayed the best phone (for my needs only, YMMV) throughout the whole year. If Sony gets it right the first time they won't have to release versions to fix the problems of the older model.
This is also part of the reason why I am not going to buy Xperia Z2, my device doesn't feel old to me until the next version of the phone is released (Note 2 only started feeling old with the announcement of Note 3 not next gen phones like S4).

Like i said before and this is the third time a june/july release for z2 with snapdragon 805 would be best, would'nt disappoint xperia z1 owners. This is a really bad attitude by sony. Saying this samsung is not doing any better with umpteen versions of flagships(for eg. s4 lte-a).
55. Leonis (Posts: 338; Member since: 08 Jan 2014)
Really? There are new phones coming out every year and every 6 months. What difference does it make if Sony release a new phone instead of LG, Apple or Samsung? Man just use your brain. You buy a phone and be happy with it. 6 month cycle instead of 1 year.... ok.... most people keep their phone for 2 year and then buy a new one. if you buy a new phone you have to be really dumb if you think nothing more will be released. 2 phone a year is not much and it is something you can get used to.

13. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5993; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
Six month release cycle could end up burning Sony out. They need to recoup the development expense of the product being replaced. Also, the value of the products will depreciate at double the rate for an annual refresh cycle.
I hope for Sony's sake, they mean 6 months between major releases (like what Sammy is doing with the GS and Note lines). Otherwise, they have been drinking too much sake (I am sorry, I couldn't resist the pun).

"Sony also plans on continued use of the OmniBalance design that debuted with the Sony Xperia Z and has been employed for the Sony Xperia Z1 and Sony Xperia Z2" - Alan F.
Actual News, Mr Kurozumi said that he does “not want to stick to a single design” giving hope to users who want to see Sony move away from the OmniBalance design that first made an appearance with the Xperia Z last year.
See for yourself,http://www.xperiablog.net/2014

totally not agreeing with 6 months timeframe of releasing a flagship...
20. Taters (Posts: 5755; Member since: 28 Jan 2013)
Good. The Z1 compact is still too big and fat for my tastes and the Z2 is WAY way too big for a phone with a 5.2 inch screen. If they fix that, I'll probably pick up either the Z2 compact or Z3.

If samsung releases the s6 in august all you Sony fanboys will be reacting differently. Hypocrite much?
