Samsung Galaxy S III sells more than iPhone 5 in UK, remains the most popular smartphone
The Samsung Galaxy S III remained the most popular smartphone in the United Kingdom for the seventh consecutive month, even after the massive iPhone 5 launch and two full months of availability. The ranking is based on on live searches, pre-orders and monthly sales compiled by uSwitch.

What’s even more interesting is that cuts to the price of the iPhone 4S has actually pushed last year’s Apple handset ahead of the iPhone 5 which only ranks as the third most popular smartphones in the UK.

And another curious fact is that in the top 10 of UK smartphones, there is not a single Windows Phone device. That is curious for a couple of reasons. The first one is that we have already seen the same thing happen with Windows Phone 7.x devices like the Lumia 900, where sources started spreading news about its popularity in a particular store, but that turned out to have little meaningful impact on overall sales.

And second because we are seeing the same story here with the Lumia 920. Nokia’s Windows Phone flagship was once again hyped to be not less than a “threat” to the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S III, but it does not even appear in the top 10 ranking for the UK.

Samsung’s Galaxy S II and the newly launched Nexus 4 (despite its limited availability) topped the five best devices list.

The top 10 of UK smartphones according to uSwitch is right below:

1. Samsung Galaxy S III
2. Apple iPhone 4S
3. Apple iPhone 5
4. Samsung Galaxy S II
5. Nexus 4
6. Samsung Galaxy Ace
7. Samsung Galaxy Note II
8. Samsung Galaxy Ace 2
9. Sony Xperia U
10. HTC One X
