LG extends its Optimus L line with the introduction of the LG Optimus L9
"The Optimus L9 is a great smartphone that appeals to every consumer. LG will continue to offer differentiated value through the Optimus L9 and strengthen our position in the smartphone market."-Dr. Jongseok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company
Those in charge of naming phones at Korean based LG must be creatures of habit. In announcing a new high-end model to its LG Optimus L line, the company might have named the device the LG Optimus L8 or even the LG Optimus L7 2. But in keeping with the  consecutive odd numbers of the line, LG introduced the LG Optimus L9. As you might expect, the device leapfrogs over the previous flagship of the line and is equipped with a 4.7 inch IPS display. Under the hood is a dual-core 1GHz processor with 1GB of RAM on board and a 5MP camera on back. A VGA shooter is on front. A 2150mAh battery keeps things humming and Android 4.0 is installed. No pricing or availability was disclosed.

A redesigned virtual QWERTY is included as is a new language translation app. The former is called My Style Keyboard and lets you change the placement of keys for easier one handed typing. In landscape, the virtual QWERTY splits down the middle to make typing easier. The latter is called QTranslator which translates different sentences and phrases from 44 different languages into 64 native languages. Will there be an LG Optimus L 11?

LG does have a little problem now. Every time you see LG, you can't help but see Optimus G Lightening after the two letters. It could be that the leaks of the device forced the OEM's hand and led them to acknowledge the phone well before the game plan called for it. Will smartphone buyers go for something like the LG Optimus L9 with the manufacturer's beast waiting in the background?

Looks awesome! But as usual they shoot themselves in the foot by putting a 5MP camera at the back! I refuse to buy anything less than 8MP.

the true HD ips display of LG straight away beats the super amoled hd display of samsung.the super amoled hd is overrated and has oversaturated colors.the image also gets blurred after zooming.see the link below:-

I think it's a mid-range.

5. neutralguy posted on 29 Aug 2012, 00:44 1 1

and given the fact that it's included in L-series, this should be a budget smartphone. Consumers wouldn't be confused what to buy between this and optimus G. If they want a slightly expensive yet beastly phone, then they would go with Optimus G. L9 is just an alternative for people who can't afford the optimus G.

It's a good way to capture bigger market. It's like Galaxy S and Galaxy Ace line. Galaxy S for high-end market and Galaxy Ace for mid-range and more affordable price.
