LG expects to sell 12 million G4 smartphones

LG expects to sell 12 million G4 smartphones
Last month, we told you that LG was expecting to sell 10 million G4 smartphones around the world. Now that the handset is finally official, LG is reportedly more optimistic when it comes to sales numbers. According to Korean website Yonhap News, the company believes it can sell 12 million G4s globally. Since the G3 was sold in about 10 million units, LG clearly expects the new flagship to be more successful than its predecessor.

While the G4 has a 5.5-inch Quad HD display (like the G3), this is an improved, slightly curved screen that offers increased brightness and color accuracy. That aside, the new LG flagship features a six-core, 64-bit Snapdragon 808 processor, a 16 MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, 8 MP front-facing camera, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of expandable internal memory, and a 3000 mAh battery. The G4 has multiple variants, including some with genuine leather rear covers.

While it's hard to say if the G4 can indeed be more successful than the G3, we assume the new handset will perform well when it comes to sales anyway. But we'll see about that after the device is released around the world. Meanwhile, here's our LG G4 hands-on, and here's all you need to know about the smartphone.

LG can't do any better, just like all other Android OEMs.

The fun is over for Google and Android.

I'd say P8 is a less-anticipated product.

If they sell it for $299 OFF contract or free on contract. I don't see them selling anymore than the G3.

I don't think it will sell too good, people seem to be on the waters about the 808. Keep in mind it's still better than the 810. The S6 and samsung is a clear winner for the sales this year. Let's see how that new Nexus and new moto phone goes.

LOL, the whiners on this post and the upcoming whiners who will post stupid negative comments astounds me, I must find something to complain about, I have a desire to judge something without even trying it first, if I don't find something to complain about, I don't know if I can live anymore (dramatic music playing) LOL, it's like a soap opera in this thread, I have a question for you whiners, do you think LG or any other OEM gives a rat's backside of the stupid negative comments being said? or that you won't buy their device because it doesn't have this feature? I'll answer it for you, Nope, they're too busy trying to compel us consumers to buy their product, and nope LG nor any other OEM paid me to post this comment, it's just common sense, who on earth negatively critiques something without trying it first? In my opinion that is by far one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of, sorry if I'm coming off as rude, but just think about it, am I really going to judge something and say "this sucks LG, it will be a disappointment, Snapdragon 808 fails in Benchmarks yadda yadda yadda, etc etc etc" without even testing the device first? Talk about never being satisfied with anything, a company fixes a problem the consumers complain about by releasing a successor to that product, and find something else to moan or groan about, Quit being whiners.

The G3 made a big splash last year this one is less compact, uglier, the SD808 will turn some away. Recent currency fluctuations will impact some areas ,unless they adjust pricing while Samsung and Apple have more compelling products now than what they had last year.
If they sell it cheaper then sure but apples for apples this will sell worse than the G3.

Even right now many would rather buy the G3 at 400$ or even less instead of the G4 at whatever price it gets (600-700$).

Oh, i'm getting One....missed my G3 , it had a fantastic camera. The almost DLSR camera alone in the G4 is a major BUY.....

...another addition to my collection of android superphones - ascend mate 7, xperia z ultra, galaxy alpha, lg g3, note 4, s5.....the last two i got for my good nephews

...i don't diss other Android OEMs, i like supporting them for pushingt the envelope in technology" )

LG give us a G4 mini version using FHD display with decent battery as good or better than the Xperias and you get my money. The design is good and fresh but your 5.5 QHD energy-hogging display will be disappointing. Samsung mocked Apple for having wall huggers but they themselves are also adopting the trend of small batteries.

Having owned a G2 and a G3, I very much doubt they will reach this 12 million target. The G3, which was the first QHD mass marketed phone and also extremely compact for the screen size, competed against a very boring and lackluster iterative Galaxy update (S5) and sold 10 million. The G4, with no real hardware unique selling propositions, is competing against what is arguably the hottest Android phone of the year (S6). While it may have a better screen than the G3, I would be extremely surprised if it is better than the S6. It also is larger than the G3, which will alienate even more people.

I just don't see how they're going to sell 12 million units of this. I would estimate closer to 4-5 million.

They should price it below S6. Or just above the current G3 price.

ı dont think it sell 12 million because s6 is has 14 nm cpu lpddr 4 ufs 2.0 and best camera
ı think g4 only sell to xda developer members because it has snapdragon
