Not a bad smartphone

sechinov has owned it for less than year before publishing this review

A good middle class, it can be buggy, but without it anywhere in the modern world, mistakes happen to everyone. For little money a child can buy. There is a global firmware and androyd 7 A cover is required, since the glass is broken at the first drop.

Xiaomi's latest is always the greatest!

I do not know what benefits does a company/region can give a manufacturer. To all those people who neglect things made in China, please give one reason why similar hardware assembled in Korea, Taiwan or US is automatically better?

R 'n' D is what define quality and reliability and Xiaomi has earned it over time from the early days of MI3. Its no longer a 'yet another' Chinese brand and MI5 is no exception.

Simplicity of MIUI, reliability of R 'n' D and support of user forums is what you get when you choose a Xiaomi device.

MI5 overcomes the shortcomings of MI4 like fingerprint sensor. Stunning sexy looks and superb horse power with MIUI 7 on top of Android 6.0 has its own fluidicity. Grab whenever possible.

Dual glass build and slim waistline without a camera hump are exception but Aluminium 6000 series takes a fraction away. Glass is a fingerprint magnet too!
Reception
10.0
Reception seems to be better than the already better MI 4.
Call quality
9.0
Call quality is as good as Reception. Sound is a bit metallic though as mentioned in the review.
Internet
10.0
SD 820 with one of the finest modems and blazing fast speed together with MIUI's slim, light weight and robust engine makes things simple and practically stunning.
Multimedia
10.0
Multimedia is one of the strongest points but the 1080p display leaves a bitter experience on such a top notch device. Won't deduct a point for that as the price is already below exception!
Camera
9.0
Ultimate camera setup. Fast and accurate all the time. I remember the days when S5(yes its old, but it was a S801/Exynos 5422 flagship) used to lag like hell when cold starting camera app. Never seen in MI4, and as expected, never seen in MI5 either! Night mode is good but not great. Reducing a point!
UI speed
10.0
MIUI is liquid smooth all the time. Even switching from Asphalt 8 to Facebook to Modern Combat 5 to Instagram to Asphalt 8 is super smooth without a strain. Mind it, all this in balanced battery mode!
Everyday usage
10.0
Fast, Smooth and Stable!

As it is a part of UI, its amazing as far as you are using Google keyboard or Flesky.
Display
9.0
Display is stunning! 1080p on a scale from 5.5 to 5.7 inches looks great. Redmi Note 3 to Galaxy Note 3 are already an example. Yes, 2K is a major miss on a SD820 device but Xiaomi manages to cover it. Excellent brightness, excellent color rendering, excellent battery backup and the excellent price gap, all these things cover up 2K shortcomings! 375+ ppi is good and 1080p stretches quite effectively on a 5.15 inch device with 428 ppi, especially when the latest iPhones have a pixel density hovering at 326 and 401.
Battery
10.0
Battery is one of the strongest attributes of MI5. SoT is super and Marshmallow's dope is an addition to already cleverly optimized MIUI.

Pros

  • Top notch Snapdragon 820.
  • 32GB base-storage.
  • Dual-glass design.
  • No camera hump.
  • Ultrapixel level front camera.
  • Superb battery life. Getting a screen-on-time of 11 hours. PhoneArena tests show it lower than MI4, but I am happily getting better.
  • Most well-built 'value for money' device.

Cons

  • 32GB version has a downclocked processor. You need to buy a 64 GB variant for full glory of SD820.
  • Aluminium 6061 Series was the one responsible for iPhone 6 Plus Bendgate. Got the hint?
  • 16MP camera is do 'okay' stills at night. Better than most, but inferior than S7.
