Samsung Galaxy S22 Review (2026): Is It Still Worth Buying or Should You Upgrade?

Phone owned for less than a year

The Samsung Galaxy S22 still delivers a flagship experience at a fraction of its original price. It pairs a bright Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with strong cameras and a compact, premium design. The main weakness is battery life. A well-maintained used Galaxy S22 remains one of the best compact Android phones you can buy in 2026.
Quick Verdict
Pros: compact design, excellent display, strong cameras, IP68 rating, wireless charging, reliable One UI.
Cons: average battery life, warms up during gaming, slower charging than newer phones, limited base storage.

Does the Galaxy S22 still feel premium?
Yes. The aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus, and IP68 protection still feel modern. It stays one of the most pocket-friendly flagships available.
Is the display still good?
Yes. The Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel shows vibrant colors and strong outdoor brightness. The 120Hz refresh rate keeps scrolling smooth.
How fast is it in 2026?
Daily tasks feel fast and apps open quickly. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 model handles sustained loads better than the Exynos 2200 version, which throttles sooner.
Is it good for gaming?
Mostly. Free Fire and PUBG Mobile run smoothly on high settings. Genshin Impact pushes the phone harder, causing noticeable heat and faster battery drain. I personally play [ https://freemaxfire.com/ ] and it's work smoothly without lagging and limits.
How's the camera in 2026?
Still strong. The 50MP main sensor captures detailed shots, and Expert RAW adds manual control for enthusiasts. The telephoto lens holds up well against the Galaxy A55.
Can it last a full day?
For moderate users, yes. Screen-on time runs 4.5 to 6 hours depending on use. Heavy users may need a midday top-up, and battery health matters most when buying used.
How long will it get updates?
Samsung keeps sending security updates, and One UI remains one of Android's best software experiences. Samsung Knox adds extra protection.
Common problems
Reported issues include battery drain, gaming heat, and slower performance under heavy load. Most owners still call it reliable daily.
How does it compare?
Galaxy S23: better battery and efficiency. Galaxy S24: stronger performance and AI features. Galaxy A55: better battery, weaker camera. Pixel 7: sharper photo processing. iPhone 13: better battery, less flexible software.
What's a fair price in 2026?
Under $250 is a strong deal. $250 to $320 is fair. Above $350 is overpriced.
Should you buy it?
Buy it for a compact flagship with strong cameras and display at a low price. Skip it if battery life matters most, and look at the S23 or A55 instead. For most buyers in the used market, the Galaxy S22 still offers real value in 2026.

The best phone I've had

Phone owned for less than a year

I've had this phone for about 6 months now, it's still as good as when i first got it! I cannot believe how great this phone is.
The camera is also one of the best things about it, the pictures are clear even at night

Bad Camera

Phone owned for less than a year

Picture quality is awful, especially with movement and lights. Nothing redeeming about this phone. Not worth $800. I liked my old Pixel 4 much better but I gave it to my teen son thinking this S22 would be an upgrade, it is not. The phone is also not intuitive to use.
