Pass on this one

Its a good phone if you can get a really good deal on it. But I'd hold off on getting it and wait to see what the Pixel 4 can offer. The phone has lag issues especially with multitasking. The camera launch speed is really slow. The speakers are loud and clear but they are unbalanced which is annoying. The notch gets in the way of videos and cuts off notifications on the status bar and replaces them with a dot. The phone also removed the LED notification which I found very useful. Overall its a good phone with great features, each software update makes it a little better but I honestly feel that Google realized that they under delivered with this phone putting 4GB of ram in it. Wireless charging is honestly a gimmick, id prefer to have a metal back and no wireless charging. Cant bash the phone too much because it is honestly a good phone, just not worth the upgrade from previous Pixels or the price tag

Build quality

Phone is very sturdy built. and feels premium in the hand.
Reception
10.0
Reception is great on the phone. A little better than my Pixel 2 XL
Call quality
5.0
Nothing really wrong with the call quality. It does haven a faint annoying clicking, hissing sound in the background of the earpiece . Also when on speaker phone, it takes the microphone about 2-3 seconds to initiate for some reason.
Internet
7.0
speeds are great but the phone will sometimes slow down with heavier web pages or apps...
Multimedia
6.0
Speakers are very loud and much clearer than the Pixel 2 XL. But the unbalanced stereo speakers are very annoying and the laggy interface and freezing is a huge drawback.
Camera
7.0
Quality of the camera is amazing. Definitely the best there is. But the camera launch speed to taking a picture or third party apps using the camera are all very laggy and delayed. Long gone are the OG pixel days where you could pull up the camera and snap a shot in less than a second
UI speed
5.0
Phone is really sluggish and laggy WAY too often... When its snappy it is snappy but with heavy multi tasking it really starts to put a strain on the phone. My Pixel 2 XL is faster than it and deals with multitasking better...
Everyday usage
7.0
Good daily driver. But not worth upgrading to from a pixel or pixel 2 XL
Text input
7.0
Text input is good. Android keyboard accuracy and auto correct still lags behind Apple.
Display
7.0
Really good display. Much better than the Pixel 2 XL. But the notch is just in the way... especially when trying to watch media or showing notifications. I've had it cut off key parts of a video on youtube that was filmed in 2:1. Also it cuts off notifications and just puts a dot there which annoys me
Battery
8.0
Good battery life, will last almost a day with heavy usage. Charges really fast too.

Pros

  • Camera quality
  • Speaker clarity/volume
  • Display Quality
  • Battery Life
  • Fast Charging
  • Pixel Software Features

Cons

  • Lags frequently
  • Unbalances speakers
  • Camera is very slow to launch
  • Notch
  • Removed LED notification light

Great phone

Coming from iOS I must say I see alot of Similar aspects. I truly feel like Pixel is the most fluid android experience you can get. The time I've played with it I feel it's a very snappy device that with more kinks worked out could make me switch from the deep dark world of Apple iOS. That being said this could never replace my iPhone Xs Max as my daily driver but its a close second. Good job on this one Google.
