Comfortably using Touch ID on the iPhone Duo is a stretch for lefties
For example, Apple has replaced Face ID on its first foldable with Touch ID, built into the right edge of the device. This forces southpaws to make an awkward stretch across the phone to unlock it.
These are some of the issues left-handers face using the iPhone Duo
Additionally, as we mentioned in the original article last month, the app dock and navigational toolbars are found all the way on the right side of the display. It might not be an issue for left-handed users to reach those elements when using the external display. However, with the internal screen, you would need an incredibly large left hand to reach the dock or toolbar from the left edge of the screen to the right edge where they are located.
Holding the Duo in your left hand could hurt
Also, if you are a lefty, you might want to hold the Duo in your dominant hand. But if you do this, keep in mind that the phone does have a sharp bottom-left corner that can dig into palms. The good news is that Apple is sending out a fix and it might be ready to install on the iPhone Duo by the time the largest batch of pre-ordered units reaches customers in December 2026 and January 2027.
Apple plans on helping out southpaws using the first foldable iPhone by the end of the year
Apple told Tom's Guide that reachability features will be coming for the Duo later this year. Reachability is an accessibility setting found on regular iPhone models that allows you to swipe down from the bottom of the screen to bring the top half of the UI down to where controls can be reached with one hand.

I have no doubt that you know exactly what I'm talking about since many iPhone users accidentally set it off when using their iPhones. I'm just taking a guess here, but Apple could plan on having the Reachability feature designed to allow lefties to move the UI on the internal display closer to the left side of the screen instead of moving the UI down as it does on the regular iPhone.
Which issue do you believe bothers left-handed iPhone Duo users the most?

I can't speak for all lefties, but I would be satisfied with such a solution for now.
