For instance, recently surfaced renders of the S27 Ultra suggest that Samsung is planning to ditch the vertical camera arrangement that it has been using in some of its recent phones, like the S26 Ultra. Now, a well-known tipster, Ice Universe, claims that the Ultra model will bring three noticeable changes to how it processes images, suggesting that the tech giant is not only working on physical and hardware changes but also on bringing some software-focused upgrades to its upcoming flagship phone.
Get ready for warmer-toned photos
If you have been taking photos with the latest Samsung Galaxy phones, you must have realized that they currently produce images with a cooler tone. Sammy is reportedly going to change this with the Galaxy S27 Ultra. According to Ice Universe, the images produced by the upcoming Ultra model will have a warmer tone.
The tipster mentions in their post that the difference in color tone will be easily noticeable when images captured by the S26 Ultra and the S27 Ultra are kept side by side. This change will most likely stem from the new ISOCELL HP6 200 MP sensor the smartphone is reported to use. The device will also feature a 50 MP telephoto lens that will support 5x optical zoom and an f/2.9 aperture and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera.

Better highlight control
The current Galaxy phones, even the flagship S26 Ultra, sometimes struggle to properly capture small, bright objects like small light sources. Basically, the device has difficulty properly suppressing highlights, and as a result, the resulting image sometimes turns out to be overly bright and also lacks detail, especially at the corners.
Samsung is reportedly working on addressing this image-processing issue. Ice Universe claims that the S27 Ultra will handle small highlights much better than any of the existing Galaxy phones.
In the upcoming model, the image of a bright light source will reportedly have a deeper orange shade. Its brightness level will be better, and the borders will have more detail. The leaker also mentions that you will see this improvement on both the main and the telephoto lenses.
Less noise in dark areas
The way Samsung phones handle low-light photos has improved significantly in recent times. In our review of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, we found that the device performed much better than previous Galaxy phones when taking low-light images. Its successor is reportedly going to make things even better.
The low-light images produced by the S27 Ultra will reportedly have far less noise than its predecessor. This change will ultimately result in the phone producing comparatively cleaner and smoother night shots.
Samsung fans would love these changes
Some Galaxy users believe that their phones have been lagging in camera performance compared to other flagships from Pixel and iPhone. A user commented under a related post that Samsung really needs to improve the tuning, consistency, and color science of its smartphone cameras. Another user mentioned that they really like the natural photos produced by Pixel phones over what they get from the Galaxy S22 Ultra camera.

I also spotted a comment in which the user basically said that a three-year-old iPhone takes better images than the S26 Ultra. Going through a good number of such comments is making me believe that Sammy is really doing a great job by making the aforementioned camera improvements, especially shifting from a cool to a warm color tone.

I would really welcome the above-mentioned changes, but along with this, I also want the South Korean giant to work on motion blur. You will find plenty of reports online with users complaining that when they try to take images of moving objects like their pets, the results often turn out to be very blurry.
Pixel phones, in comparison, are reportedly much better at capturing moving objects. Whether or not Samsung will address this issue with its smartphones is something we will find out when the Galaxy S27 lineup becomes available.
