Optiemus' near bezel-less BlackBerry Ghost surfaces thanks to new leak
While most of you are familiar with the TCL built BlackBerry Mobile devices like the BlackBerry KEYone (seen above) and BlackBerry Motion, there are actually two other companies producing BlackBerry branded handsets. Like TCL, these other firms have a license allowing them to use the BlackBerry name on their devices, and load them with software provided by BlackBerry.

The two other manufacturers licensed to produce BlackBerry handsets are BB Merah Putih, and Optiemus Infracom. The former released the BlackBerry Aurora for the Indonesian market last year, and if the latest speculation is right, the latter is about to introduce its first BlackBerry handset called the BlackBerry Ghost.

To stand a ghost of a chance in the high-end Android market, the device will feature a near bezel-less look. It will be the first 'Berry to offer the "modern design" that has been all the rage these days. A render of the Ghost has been leaked by tipster Evan Blass, and we have to admit that this could be the sexiest 'Berry ever made. It would be great if the Ghost haunted U.S. carriers and retailers, but it appears for now that the device is heading to India only.

So far, there are no specs to pass along, but as soon as we hear something we will be glad to pass it along to you.

BlackBerrys of late have battery life, security and updates going for them. It's more than acceptable at the mid-range tier but to compete in the upper stratosphere BB will have to shore up its camera game. The KEYone was a welcome surprise but good cameras shouldn't be a footnote.

That’s not competing in the upper tier range, and it won’t even be sold out side of the region of India, as per BlackBerry’s deals with its 3 licensees, BB Merah Putih, and Optiemus Infracom, and TCL. Near bezel-less doesn’t necessarily mean upper tier. Look at the Honor 7x.

You act like Apple didn't take that Bezeless design from Samsung, LG and Essential.

Unless Blackberry says otherwise, I doubt we'll see this device sell outside of India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh. http://blogs.blackberry.com/2017/02/blackberry-signs-third-major-smartphone-licensing-deal-to-reach-additional-1-5-billion-potential-smartphone-users/ On another note, I love the stealth look of this device and would love to try/see it in person!

I think bb need to change their strategy. Nokia manage to sell 10 million smartphone device in 1 year since reborn. BB with more channel only sell less than 1 million device. If bb didn't change strategy, bb brand will be ghost soon

BlackBerry’s strategy is just fine. They have licensees handling the hardware, and they collect a fee per handset sold, with no downside since they don’t do smartphone hardware anymore. It’s all profit for them. It’s amazing how people still can’t grasp the fact that BlackBerry doesn’t build hardware anymore, lol.

Blackberry is already killing off their app store, or what's left of it. BB10 is pretty much dead and their Droidberry is on its way there if they don't come up with a more compelling strategy.
