Upcoming Xiaomi Mi A2 with Android One shows up on Geekbench
After the success of Xiaomi’s first Android One smartphone last year, the Mi A1, the low-cost brand looks set to make a return to the segment this year with the predictably-titled Mi A2, which has just made an appearance on Geekbench.

Overall, Xiaomi’s Mi A2 was able to score 1630 on the single-core test, while this rose to 4657 on the multi-core listing. According to the details, these results were achieved thanks to the presence of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660. Furthermore, this is coupled with 4GB of RAM and is backed by Android 8.1 Oreo. In addition to this, much like the Mi A1 that was based on the Mi 5X, this year’s Mi A2 is set to pack almost identical hardware to the Mi 6X. This means 64GB of internal storage is a possibility. Also, on a separate note, Xiaomi is expected to offer a variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

In regards to the external aspects of the smartphone, a large, 6-inch LCD display is currently anticipated, with a front-facing 20-megapixel camera just above. As an added extra, like last year's Mi A1, this year's device will also feature a dual-camera setup, albeit with improved sensors. Specifically, a main 12-megapixel camera should accompany a secondary 20-megapixel one. Other specifications will include stock Android 8.1 Oreo straight out of the box along with a USB Type-C connector, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 3,010mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0.

Presently, it’s unclear when Xiaomi will unveil the Mi A2 but considering the increase in leaks as of lately, a July release is highly likely to happen alongside a budget Mi A2 Lite variant.

My xperia xz1 compact has a 2700mAh battery. It easily outlasts every other phone in the market except perhaps for Moto Z Play

Your compact also has a 4.6 inch display. Unlike the Mi 6X.

No dude, you are so wrong with some of the specs. Please research well before you write an article. The Mi A2 is rumored to be based on the 6X, which means it should have a non-telephoto secondary back camera, and 3010 mAh battery, not a Mi A1 like telephoto one or a 2910 mAh battery. I know your numbers weren't too off but it could be. And still, many authors here regularly make mistakes so you guys need to improve. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for pointing out the battery detail, my bad. However, I would like to point out that the article makes zero mention of a telephoto lens. It simply states that there will be a dual-camera setup. All of my articles are researched before being published.

Oh, sorry for understanding it wrong! When you said the device will feature a dual cam like Mi A1, I thought you were implying that it would also have a telephoto second cam. Thanks for clearing it though.

710 is available? which phone use 710? as I know Xiaomi is the 1st one to use 710 (Mi8SE) and it's still unreleased. And this phone is actually just 6X (which released 2 months ago) with Android One, it still got much better specs compared to other brand on same price range, and it also got timely update straight from Google. (Did you seriously expect SD710 on $250 phone? lol..)

Save your laugh. The announced 710 phone Mi SE only costs 280 with much better specs and AMOLED screen. So 250 for lower specs like Mi A2 seems impossible for you? After all, 710 is mid range SOC.

Just for clarification, the Mi 8 SE goes on sale tomorrow in China. So yes, the Snapdragon 710 is available.
