WhatsApp for Android gains Picture-in-Picture mode in latest update
WhatsApp isn't finished bringing new features to Android users. Although they may not be available to everyone at first, if you're running the beta version, you definitely benefit from all the new improvements.

Yesterday, WhatsApp pushed out an update to the beta app, which adds a new gesture that allows Android users to swipe to reply to a message. This particular feature was already available on the iOS, but Android users had to wait for it for several months.

Today, WhatsApp added yet another feature that's already available to iOS users for quite some time: Picture-in-Picture mode. To benefit from PiP mode, you'll have to update your Android app to version 2.18.301.

The picture-in-Picture mode allows Android users to play videos from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Streamable directly from the WhatsApp application. Whenever you get a link to a video in a chat, you can play them in PiP mode, which will allow you to continue to use the chat while watching the video.

Apparently, there's an issue that prevents from a video to continue playing if you switch to another chat window. But since this is only available in the beta version, we assume WhatsApp will be fixing this before it makes it to the stable build.
