We recently told you that Nintendo is partnering with DeNA to produce video games for mobile devices. While Nintendo is expected to utilize its large stable of popular characters, it is not planning to port over current games to mobile platforms like iOS, Android or Windows Phone. Still, a video was posed Friday on social media showing Super Mario 64 HD playing on an Apple iPhone 6.

This tech-demo was the result of work done by a developer named Erik Roystan Ross. Ross came up with a version of Super Mario 64 that he created using the Unity engine. Ross recreated the first level of the game in a bid to show off his Super Character Controller for Unity, which makes animating characters easier. James Fietch of Mobot turned Ross' work into an iPhone game and added virtual controls.

Lastly, the gang at Touch Arcade was able to have the game run on an iPhone 6, and made a video of it in action. If Nintendo sticks to its guns, we won't see games like Super Mario playing on an iPhone although we could see Mario involved in a new series of games. Also, we should point out that although this video shows Super MArio 64 HD playing on an iPhone, it can be

I hope you never get your wish, Mario is not a first person perspective type of game... that being said, it would still be a great VR game.

Please Phonearena delete or edit this post as this video if it was fake as I will tell you: i think this game is actually a remake of the first level of the game that made by a computer science student Erik Roystan Ross using unity game engine. You can open the game by using web browser, not necessarly an iphone, would you check out and be sure because there are very very similar and the same level. I can't put a url here since I have less than 30 posts and I respect and love that.(I hate trolls and spams a lot) You may check the verge as an example.

Show that PA Alan F is more Apple bias than The Verge. 100% misleading title. "You can now play Super Mario 64 in your browser" That's should be a correct title.

I made that statement over the HD quality of the graphics. I can play that game any time I like. I actually own it. I was unaware at the time when I posted that it was just a fan project and will never be more than a single level experience.

whatever platform Nintendo dumps their games on could seriously make me consider switching haha. I love android but sometimes Iphone has some sweet ass games. Maybe its time to bite the bullet and get both haha.

Still doesn't change the fact that iOS has the best games.

yeah, because on iOS, games run smoothly. i just don't get it Note 4 with all it's beast specs, still lags on light games such as Heroes Charge. i mean, the iPad Mini 2 with 1.5 years old specs(same specs as it's phone counterpart) run it flawlessly, and it has similar screen resolution.

Huhuh ... . I sometimes imagined that in few years, we can play a great PC / console games, using a tablet or even a smartphone. I think now that OEM may fulfil that, but they stumble on the price and battery life. Let see when .......

Or..instead of waiting, just download an N64 emulator on android and play Mario 64 now.

You can run an emulator on anything these days... I was initially excited about playing the full game in HD, sadly I found out that the video above is simply a fan project that is apparently forever restricted to the first level of the game. So yeah, I'll still play my Mario games whenever I like... It would just be nice if they got a graphical update like the one in this article.
