BlackBerry has already rolled out the Marshmallow update to Priv phones many months ago, but there's one particular carrier that has yet to provide it: Verizon.
Verizon hasn't yet released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the
BlackBerry Priv, but that's like to change in the coming weeks. At least one Priv owner on Verizon reports that he has finally received the Marshmallow update on its smartphone.
For the time being, Verizon hasn't confirmed the availability of the update, so it doesn't seem that it's widespread for now. However, if you own the Priv on Verizon it's worth checking whether the update is available for you or not. It it shows an error message like “Unable to connect,” it means it's not yet available and you should try again later.
It's also worth noting that the
Android 6.0. 1 Marshmallow update that Verizon is expected to push to BlackBerry Priv in the coming days contains the October security patch as well.
Android Marshmallow is likely to be the last major OS update that BlackBerry plans to bring to the Priv. Android 7.0 Nougat might be reserved only for the newest smartphones launched by the Canadian company like the BlackBerry DTEK60.
