Verizon Wireless and Samsung launch the new SCH-A990 3-megapixel cameraphone

Verizon just announced the new Samsung SCH-A990 which is the first 3.2 mega pixel camera phone launched with US carrier. The successor of Samsung SCH-A970 improves the resolution of the camera from 2 to 3.2 mega pixel. Just like its predecessor it has a 180-degreee swivel screen and it has an additional color unit on the front shell.  The device also features quite a few multimedia capabilities, including video recording, V Cast music, V Cast Video, Bluetooth with basic print profile. The memory can be expanded with microSD cards and is really handy because it can store images, MP3 files, video files. Other features include PictBridge Digital Printing and TV-out. The device measures 3.80" x 1.88" x .82" and weighs 4.40 oz.

The SCH-A990 is available for $349.99 after $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year contract, online from Verizon's website. It will be in stores on July 24, 2006.
