Verizon Moto X users getting soak test invites likely for Android 4.4.2
Motorola was incredibly fast when it came to pushing out the Android 4.4 update to the various carrier models of the Moto X, but it has been taking a bit more time to get out the incremental update that brings the software to Android 4.4.2. The T-Mobile/unlocked and US Cellular models of the Moto X have already gotten the 4.4.2 update, and now it looks like it may be almost time for the Verizon model to get in on it as well.

PhoneArena community member Sniggly has let us know that he received a soak test invite from Motorola for his Verizon Moto X. The invite doesn't mention what exactly the soak test is for, but that seems pretty easy to figure out. There's really only one kind of soak test coming from Motorola right now and that is for the Android 4.4.2 update.

The soak test hasn't begun, so there's no real way to say when the update will be approved and pushed out. As of right now, we have to assume that the update will bring the same things to the Verizon Moto X that it has to the other models, which means the addition of Google Cloud Print support as well as battery life and Microsoft Exchange bug fixes.

thanks for the tip, Sniggly!

You're very welcome as always, Michael! Even incremental updates continue to cement Motorola's first place position in providing timely software releases to its customers.

So any noticeable improvements or changes to the functionality of the phone? How's the battery life so far? The Droid Razr M is a nice phone but I'd like to go back to a larger display.

I'm already content with the battery life with just 4.4. It lasts me the whole day with moderate use. If the 4.4.2 update prolongs it any further then I'm going to be extremely happy.

the soak hasn't been pushed out yet. It could be a week before it starts.

Typically, how long of a wait is it for the release of a new software update to reach the general consumer after the soak test?

There's no real way to say, but so far with the Moto X the proper update has come within a few days of the soak test starting.

Ugh... I'm still shuffling my feet on whether or not to take advantage of the latest sale on the Moto X from the Moto Maker site after a poster said it looked like a grandfathered unlimited wouldn't be cancelled. I was holding fast hoping for a Nexus 6, but the Moto X is a damn fine device. I'm thinking 32GB, silver accents, and either a white front with teak back, or black front with ebony back. Since the original story was posted I've just been playing with the possibilities.

Well don't wait too long, it's one heck of a deal.... You'll need to check for yourself to see if you're able to keep your data plan. Just know that you don't have to complete the order if it's not an option. I personally love the phone.

if you get the phone off-contract it won't alter your data plan. i have a Moto X w/ Unlimited Data and an iPhone 5S too since it and the Moto X use Nano SIMS i can just swap the SIM out and use which ever phone fits my needs. ;D

Guys i have a question....what is the price of motorola moto g in your country? I was thinking of buying it... but it is priced unfairly in my country. I've heard it is 179$ for 8gb in usa, but in my country it is around 230-240$ for 8gb version. Is the pricing really unfair or is it priced higher than that in USA? What about in other countries? Im not gonna buy it, but if was gonna buy it, should i have bought it despire the unfair pricing?
