An updated version of Facebook is now available for BlackBerry 10 users

After spending some time in the BlackBerry Beta Zone, a new updated version of Facebook is now available for BlackBerry 10 powered handsets. The updated Facebook app can be found in App World and includes some new features for social media fans. The changelist says that you will see improved and additional story types in your NewsFeed. You will also be able to view likes and comments for an album, post comments and likes for an album, and set a photo in your album as a cover photo.

The update also enhances the user experience while exterminating any bugs that were preventing users from enjoying the app. Those avid Facebook users sporting a BlackBerry 10 powered handset are being told to download and install the updated app. Eventually, older versions of Facebook are expected to stop working on BlackBerry 10 models after the new version has been made available for some time.

The handsets that support the new Facebook version (10.7.31.9) include the BlackBerry Classic, BlackBerry Leap, BlackBerry Passport, BlackBerry Q10, BlackBerry Q5, BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry Z3 and the BlackBerry Z30. If you're counting, the file weighs in at 24MB. The last time that Facebook was updated for BlackBerry 10 handsets was back in January.

It is good to see that BlackBerry was trying their best to bring the best user experience to their users, however I they could revamp the entire UI of the Facebook apps.

Sideloading is nice, but it doesn't provide as good a user experience as native apps do.

Also, the only way you can sideload the FB app onto your BlackBerry is if you delete the original, as it will just default to the original that came preinstalled on the handset. I've tried it.

What about WhatsApp? Had you tried it sideload it with native one?

No, haven't tried it. Facebook is considered a "core" app on BlackBerry, as BlackBerry themselves developed the FB app, which is why that happens. WhatsApp isn't considered such, as it wasn't BlackBerry that developed the app, so it may be possible.

No matter which platform/OS you are using, native apps is always have the best experience, unless your platform doesn't have that particular apps, sideload will be the only choice then.

Always great to see BlackBerry, or any OEM, update apps on their respective handsets that create a better experience for the user.

10 is a number that's higher than your IQ.

The fact that tom.coward1978 spends his entire day trolling BlackBerry articles shows how much of a life he DOESN'T have. So sad.

You're telling us to get a life, and yet you incessantly troll BlackBerry articles here on Phonearena? How ironic... As I previously said, and as you have just proven yet again, 10 is a number that's higher than your IQ.

Haven't seen Pussy Jane in a while. How do we get rid of the 4th Stooge? Ironic his name is Howard.
