Two software updates for the Acer ICONIA TAB A500 packs the new Android Market and speed boosts
Although it’s still believed that the Acer ICONIA TAB A500 will be getting its dose of Ice Cream Sandwich early next year, January allegedly, there are actually two new consecutive software updates being rolled out to the tablet as we speak.

Specifically, tablet owners are reporting that they’re first receiving version 7.014.01, which is then quickly followed up by version 7.014.02 – with the two being less than 10MB in size. Indeed, they’re small in size, but that shouldn’t mislead some owners out there. Well, that’s because the first big change brought on by them is the arrival of the latest version of the Android Market, which is version 3.4.4 to be exact. Additionally, the other big noticeable thing with the installation of the two updates, is the general improvement of speed with the user interface.

Besides those two specific items, it’s unknown what else is brought along with the updates, seeing that changelogs are not available on Acer’s web site right now. Nevertheless, we’d imagine that this would bring some joy to people out there – though, you may want to hold off from installing them if you have a rooted device to be on the safe side.

Of course, if you haven’t messed around or tinkered with the tablet’s software, then there’s no worry for you, and in that case, by all means go ahead and install the two new updates. It’s no Ice Cream Sandwich, but it’ll suffice for now.
