The first video ad for the Samsung Gear S is here and it's mostly
With Samsung's latest Android Wear smartwatch, the Gear S, already on the shelves in its homeland, it was more than natural for the tech giant to release a video ad for its greatest wearable to date. The ad is already here, but it is not as inspiring or witty as some of some of the other ads that promote Samsung's gadgets. This one takes a rather conservative approach and simply lists the different functionalities of the device, while also pointing out in what types of situations the Gear S might be helpful to you.

Sporting a 2.5D 2" Super AMOLED display with resolution of 360 x 480, a dual-core 1GHz Samsung Exynos processor, 512MB of RAM, 4 GB of on-board storage, a 300mAh battery, and, last but not least, a SIM card slot, the Samsung Gear S is undoubtedly the most power-laden Android Wear smartwatch that Samsung has released. To further expand the functionalities of the device, Sammy has also thrown in a deep bag of sensors, such as a heart rate monitor, barometer, and a UV light sensor.

Earlier today, we told you that Samsung has sold some 10,000 units of the gadget during its launch day, and probably nobody know how the gadget's performing on the North American market. At the moment, it's available from AT&T and Sprint, but we also know that Verizon and T-Mobile will also add it to their portfolios in the foreseeable future.

Better than the all the Gears and every other watch, HAs WiFi, 3G, GPS and more. The Iwatch against like the phone costs more and does less. I would say anything that cost more and does less is a piece if sh*t

Okay that commercial is bad... but still one of the best SMART-watches on the market since its SMART and not like the galaxy gear, apple watch or any other non-thinking watch.

So anything is "SMART" as long as you are using your own definition....

smart device is defined as being able to go online to the web as well as make calls and text email.

Yea, but they can't do it without a phone thinking for it..

Which this watch can do. So by definition, this is a SMART watch.

I thought the Gear S was not an Android Wear device but a Tizen one.

This is not a smartwatch, it's literally a smartphone strapped to your wrist!

Proper use of "literally"? Sure, why not...

The Gear S has already been released on Verizon as of November 8th. They're currently selling it at $350 on contract or $400 outright. Either one carries a $5 a month line access. I know this because I was just browsing through the VZW site yesterday. Easiest way to find it is just go to the main page and search "Samsung Gear S" and it'll pop up.

att and sprint first to get it then the rest 250 price with 10 a month data i think it was i have to double check.

I really want one but I am not going to buy a Samsung phone just to get it. I am sure it will be like the Gears and they will realize a new one soon that works with every OS or just doesn't need a smartphone to initially pair with in the first place.

22. engineer-1701d unregistered

maybe you dont understand it you dont pair it with a phone its a stand alone device, its got a sim card and its own number.

I know tmobiles plan won't allow it. And if I am not mistaken the device videos states that it needs to be paired with a phone at some point to make the call out because the actual carrier is the one doing the 'forwarding' of the phone number and calling system not the device/sim. Remember just cause it has a sim card, it is the carrier that has to recognize that sim as proper and the plan etc.

They just barely referenced the main thing that sets the Gear S apart from all the smart watches that have come before, the ability to operate out of BT range of the linked phone. Several hundred dollars for the prior smart watches that were essentially remote notification screens with a 30ft max range made little sense to me. Now paying that same amount for the ability to handle calls, notifications, etc, wherever I go while my phone sits at home, in the car, back at the office, etc. gives you much more flexibility and productive use for your money. They need to do a commercial that shows a guy forgetting his phone at home then still answering that critical phone call while out jogging. Or an office worker leaving his phone in the office, ride the elevator several floors up to the CEO's office, and still be able to make a call to the client to seal the deal. Show off the truly remote access that sets the Gear S apart from the competition.

Is it so hard to write a title for a Samsung article that is not so subjective?

A meh device deserves a meh commercial. Also a meh device deserves a meh editorial article - PA its Tizen not Android. PA always post wrong information on their articles.

Um, it's not Android Wear. Just sayin.
