The first Blackberry UMTS handset – 8707v revealed

The first Blackberry mobile phone to feature UMTS support – 8707v – has been unveiled. The quad-band GSM/UMTS device is a version of the Blackberry 8700 series. It sports the same features, but has slightly different appearance and adds 3G connectivity. The main features include:

  • Full QWERTY keyboard
  • 312 MHz Intel processor
  • 64MB flash memory, 16MB RAM
  • Bluetooth v2.0/miniUSB connectivity
  • Polyphonic and MP3 ringtones
  • Built-in speakerphone

The Blackberry 8707v is expected to be launched by Vodafone. There's still no official word on whether RIM will produce additional models for other mobile operators or not.
