Target's iPhone 4 trade-in service expires tomorrow

Target's iPhone 4 trade-in service expires tomorrow
Sure there is a lot of attention focused on the Verizon iPhone 4 right now, but if you happen to be eying AT&T’s version, you might want to know about a special trade-in service that allows you to get credit for your new purchase.

As long as you’re holding an iPhone 3G or 3GS in your hand right now, you can head on over to your local Target and inquire about their trade-in service. Basically, this limited time service allows you to trade in your old iPhone and receive credit towards the purchase of the AT&T iPhone 4 with a contract. However, this service is set to expire tomorrow, so you’d better think quickly on your feet if you still want to part ways with your old model.

If you decide to let it go, you can obtain approximately a $100 credit for a 16GB iPhone 3G and up to a $200 one for a 32GB iPhone 3GS.  Target’s trade-in service has been going on since February 6th, but it’s set to expire tomorrow; February 12th.

I know this is a service being provided by Target, not directly by AT&T; however, since it does require a new 2 year AT&T contract it is provided on AT&T's behalf as an authorized dealer. It makes AT&T look a little desperate on iPhone sales because (one could assume) that many AT&T users are switching to the iPhone with Big Red. Perhaps if AT&T had a nicer selection of smartphones and hadn t been solely Apple focused it would not make much difference. On the other hand, way to go Apple with iPhone marketing over the course of its lifespan!

Ummm... I am a loyal VZW user, but AT&T does have a decent selection of smartphones. They have WP7, RIM, Nokia, iPhone, and Android. VZW only has Android, RIM, and iPhone now. I say AT&T still has a bigger selection of different kinds of phones, whereas VZW has like an Android device for every other smartphone AT&T has.
