Once again, T-Mobile adds more mid-band LTE spectrum to a large number of cell sites


As T-Mobile and Sprint await approval for their $26 billion merger from the FCC and the Justice Department, the carriers continue to work independently of each other. For example, a tweet disseminated today by T-Mobile's CTO Neville Ray says that during the last two weeks, more mid-band capacity has been added to hundreds of cell sites throughout the country. While you hear a lot about T-Mobile's low-frequency 600MHz and 700MHz airwaves and Sprint's 2.5GHz high frequency spectrum, there are bands in the middle.

Being added are the 1700/2100 AWS bands that are the frequencies used the most by T-Mobile subscribers to connect to the carrier's 4G LTE network. The markets where capacity has been increased include:
