The sequel to the popular, low-end ZTE Maven is now getting a major Android update. ZTE Maven 2 was launched at AT&T earlier this year and was offered as a prepaid smartphone to customers looking for such a device.

Surprisingly, this $40 smartphone is now getting Android 7.1.1 Nougat update if AT&T did not make a mistake when it confirmed the information on the phone's support page.

Because not many have heard about the ZTE Maven 2, let's just say that it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor and just 1GB of RAM.

If you own the ZTE Maven 2 from AT&T, then you should be looking for firmware version Z831V1.0.0B29 if you want to upgrade your phone to Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The download file weighs in at 1.16GB, so make sure you have enough free storage before attempting to update.

Keep in mind that besides all the new features and improvements included in Android 7.1.1 Nougat, you'll also be getting a new Android security patch. Also, the AT&T Address Book will be removed from the ZTE Maven 2.
