Sony Ericsson unveils the slim M600 messaging cellphone

Sony Ericsson has unveiled its new slim messaging mobile phone – M600. The device is the second handset from Sony Ericsson to be equipped with Symbian 9.1 OS and UIQ 3.0. The tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz)/UMTS (2100 MHz) phone is only 15mm thick, which makes it one of the slimmest business UMTS phones, known so far and a possible rival of the thin Motorola Q handset. The main features of the M600 are:

  • QVGA 2.6-inch 262k color touch screen display with handwriting recognition
  • dual function keyboard (QWERTY, QWERTZ, AZERTY and Russian variants available)
  • Stereo Bluetooth support
  • 80 MB internal user memory
  • Memory Stick Micro memory expansion slot
  • Push e-mail
  • Media Player (MP3, AAC, ACC+, E-AAC+ and m4a support)
  • Streaming Audio/Video
  • PowerPoint, Word and Excel editors, Adobe PDF viewer
  • IRDa, USB support
  • built-in speakerphone

The Sony Ericsson M600 is available in two versions: M600i for Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas and M600c for Mainland China as well as in two colors: Granite Black and Crystal White. It is expected to hit the market in the second quarter of 2006.
