Samsung Star sales reach 30 million
It has taken a year and a half for the first massive touchscreen phone by Samsung, the Star, to reach the impressive 30 million sold units and rank somewhere in the top 10 of most popular mobile phones up to date. The eye-popping number is mostly due to strong sales in Europe where 15 million people bought the Samsung Star.

The Star walks in the footsteps of the Samsung SGH-E250, which was the only model by Sammy to reach 30 million units sold. Surely, price was a huge factor as the device was one of the budget touchscreen models. Back in those dark days of 2009, feature phones were dominating the market and the smartphone rise was still ahead. The Star also recorded huge sales in Latin America with 5 million sold units, followed by Russia with 3 million and China, where sales were at 1 million.

The phone combines good looks with the proprietary TouchWiz interface on a 3 inch screen. The phone's popularity was one of the factors why since the time of its launch, it has been rebranded with Wi-Fi and TV versions.
