Samsung Gear Sport gets an "official launch" film, but no release date

In late August, Samsung announced the Gear Sport, a newTizen-based smartwatch aimed at very active users. While the company didn't sayexactly when the Gear Sport would be released, the smartwatch is likely goingto hit shelves in the near future. That's because Samsung today published aGear Sport "official launch film."

As you can see above, the launch film's main idea is thatthe Samsung Gear Sport is a smartwatch that enables you to "go beyondfitness." It can do that thanks to stuff like water resistance (up to 50meters), weight management features, built-in GPS for accurate tracking, andeven a standalone music player.

The Gear Sport does not have cellular connectivity, so youcan't use it to make calls. However, you can pair it with Android and iOSphones (via Bluetooth) to receive notifications, sync fitness apps, and evenrespond to text messages. The new wearable can also be used to make purchasesvia Samsung Pay, thanks to built-in NFC.

The official price of the Samsung Gear Sport should bearound $350. If you're not yet sure this is a smartwatch for you, feel free tocheck out our Gear Sport hands-on.

It's a cool toy. Not worth $350 with no cellular. The Gear S3 is already that cost basically. It's to pricey too. Samsung please update the S3 with those new UI features.

Yeah, that hideous standalone icon that you cannot get rid of is driving me crazy. It’s almost as ugly as the notch on the iphone x.

After reason official announcement on W10M and BB10 had died out, I notice Samsung never announce any new Tizen smartphone as well, do Tizen on smartphone died out like both of them too?

They released new model named Samsung Z4 in India few months back which runs on Tizen 3.0 So, I think it's not dead YET. But progress is too slow! :(

Any way to get rid of that ugly ass standalone icon when the gear s3 goes into standalone mode? That thing is going to burn in that icon into the screen.

Happy with the Gear S3,and I don't see myself upgrading to a new smartwatch as long as my Gear S3 is still working.

Unless it's an upgraded gear s3 frontier water proof and all like this watch with all of the sensors that the Sport has.

Disappointed with the new gear releases. I just want a Gear s2 classic with a speaker phone that’s not as thick as the lte variant and updated internals
