Here's the first high-res render of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active

Although Samsung already inadvertently confirmed the existence of the Galaxy S8 Active, the smartphone has yet to be announced. Nevertheless, we're assuming that the handset will be officially unveiled in the near future, as we've already seen it plenty of times - in leaked slides, live photos, and even a hands-on video.

While we're waiting for Samsung to finally announce the Galaxy S8 Active, today, we can take a look at the very first high-resolution render of it. The render - included above - allows us to better see the phone's rugged design, including the fact that its margins are raised to protect the screen. Speaking of it, the screen of the S8 Active is a 5.8-inch AMOLED one with 1440 x 2960 pixels - it's not curved (as the displays of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are), but it does have rounded corners.

Since this render comes from Evan Blass, aka @evleaks (who has an excellent track record when it comes to revealing unannounced smartphones), we're pretty sure that this is the real Galaxy S8 Active.

Similar to Samsung's previous Active smartphones, the Galaxy S8 Active is drop-proof (from heights of up to 5 feet) and packs a pretty generous battery (4000 mAh). That aside, the handset has most of the features that you can find on the non-rugged S8 and S8+, including a Snapdragon 835 processor, 8 MP and 12 MP cameras (front and rear), 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of expandable internal memory, and Android 7 Nougat.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active will be available in the US via AT&T - the only carrier to offer Galaxy Active phones stateside since their debut several years ago. Pricing details will likely be revealed soon. Stay tuned!

Exactly, piyath is the type of idiot who would complain that the Hummer H2 isn't as sexy looking as the McLaren P1

What's the point of this bloody phone, eh? People who buy S8s are geeks, and geeks stay indoors... They DON'T stay active for more than a minute... And people who go out in the wild are opposite of geeks. And for them, a sturdy flip phone with GREAT battery life is just about PERFECT...! Why I got into Smartphone? Because I'm old...! I used to be all about cars and motorcycles...! Oh well, It'd make a TON more sense if Apple make a rugged variant of iPhone... Most iPhones are used as dumb phones, ya know? My mate has an iPhone, and all he cares about is iMessage and Email...! Don't care about crazy launchers, icon packs, 'Romming', keyboards and all that geeky blah...! Android is strictly meant for the poor and geek, maybe both... And that's the ugly truth, which I accept as an Android user and you should too...! Oh well, G'Day!

There's so much wrong in your comment it hurts. First, 'geeks' drop their phone as well, even indoors. So a phone like this will mitigate effects of drops. 2nd, active people (which can also be geeks mind you) always have their smartphone on them for pictures, music, or even a lifeline in cases of emergency. They just keep it tucked in their rucksack. Having the Active means they can have it in hand. And lastly, poor people can get iPhones too if they looked on eBay. Phones like the Galaxy series or Pixel don't come cheap and "not meant for the poor". They're also not meant for geeks as these phones are not customisable like the OnePlus series. They are meant for people who want a different offering from the iPhone due to various reasons (better camera, beautiful design, better screen)

That's just so much stupid in your comment. I live in a military heavy town and a lot if the soldier and those who work on base gravitate towards the the active because they don't have to worry about cases and screen protectors. Being a old sorry sack of crap who has given up in life is your problem

Maybe his comment doesn't make a lot of sense but you don't have to insult him for sharing his experience. Come on people it's just a phone.

"It's strictly meant for the poor and geek maybe both." You may want to relook at who is hurling insults. Or like so many on this site, you choose to ignore some people's comments as long as they share your ideology

Like I said Green man's comment doesn't make a lot of sense but that wasn't my point. My point is the users here in this website throwing insults left and right over soulless inanimate objects and the companies who made them doesn't give a s**t about our existence like the other user who insulted him. I would dare say if some of the users here actually meet in real life they beat each other to a pulp.

Idiots domt care those are the people who should be ignored. Trolls deserve nothing in life or a life to begin with. Android is for everyone and so is everything else. Rich people are a smaller percentage of the world. If only rich people bought phones, every OEM would do out of business. Anyone who claims Android is for poor people, shoukd have a stroke where they can't ever do anything else in life

Wishing bad things to other people all the time will back fire at you really bad. Food for thought.

Actually thatd false. But nice try. Bad things happen for a reason. Usually caused by yourself. Things dont just happen because you say something. But youre welcome to believe whatever you want. Unlike people like you, I have respect foe people's opinion to agree or disagree. It's the dog tired trolling where people make dumb statements on purpose, or always attacking what someone likes. You can wish wish upon a star. But it isn't gonna come true just because you said it from your mouth.

He definitely deserves the insult. He always trolls Android and their Oems. Apple fanatic like Mxzy Sharing his experience lmfao, he always acts like he is drunk or pisset but actually he is wise smart and never tipsy so he can get away trolling by not getting a warning.

What about people who want the newer hardware in a phone that can take to work? What about guys who do construction work or similar? Try thinking outside he box instead of just yourself!? In fact, why do you care what others want. There must be a market if Samsung keeps making them...right? How about you dont worry about it since its obviously not foe you. I domt understand why males see this need to worry about other people's business. I thought that was just a female thing?!

Not everyone who buys a phone is a geek. Some people want a phone that won't break because it gets dropped.
