Rovio launches a Clash of Clans rival: Plunder Pirates, out now on iOS

4comments

Rovio today released Plunder Pirates, a MMO strategy game that’s definitely inspired by Clash of Clans - one of the most successful iOS and Android games of last year. For the moment, Plunder Pirates is available only on iOS (in select countries). Unfortunately, Android and Windows Phone users will have to wait until 2015 to get the game.

Unlike Angry Birds, Plunder Pirates isn’t developed by Rovio (but by Midoki). However, the game is published by the company via its Rovio Stars division.

Rovio initially planned to launch Plunder Pirates tomorrow, but it released it one day earlier - possibly because iOS 8 is also out as of today. The game will allow you to build 3D pirate islands, assemble your own pirate crew, discover unexplored seas, and battle and plunder other pirates. Moreover, you’ll be able to create or join pirate guilds with your friends.

You can find Plunder Pirates in the App Store for free (with optional in-app purchases). An official video trailer of the new game can be watched below.
