Report: Glass and magnesium build for the Samsung Galaxy S7?
According to a rumor out of China, which specifically came from a posting on Weibo, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is going to feature a tougher build than the Samsung Galaxy S6. The latter employs grade 6013 aluminum. Apple went with a series 7000 aluminum build for the Apple iPhone 6s and Apple iPhone 6s Plus following #bendgate.

The new rumor states that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will use a magnesium alloy body. There will be a glass back panel, keeping with the premium look and feel of the Galaxy S6. Interestingly, Meizu just producd a teaser the other day, hinting that a magnesium, aluminum alloy will be used on the Meizu Blue Charm Metal smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 could feature a Snapdragon 820 SoC in China and the U.S., and the unannounced Exynos 8890 chipset elsewhere. Expect to see a 5.7-inch screen with a 1440 x 2560 resolution, and a dual camera system similar to the one employed on the HTC One (M8).

This is the second time that we've passed along the rumor that the Galaxy S7 will use a magnesium alloy build. The advantage of using this material is that it will provide the strength to keep the handset from bending and getting damaged when dropped, but will be lightweight enough to prevent users from getting a hernia from holding it. If you believe in the old adage that "where there is smoke there is fire," the magnesium alloy build for the Galaxy S7 is just about in the bag.

Thanks for the tip!

Do you have a source for the Note5 and edge+ also using 7000 series aluminum? Samsung did officially say the S6 and Edge used 6013 aluminum Which is 1.5 times stronger and 1.2 times more scratch-resistant than the 6063 aluminum used in the iPhones 5-6 http://global.samsungtomorrow.com/forming-glass-forging-metal-the-art-of-craftsmanship-in-the-galaxy-s6/

If they're going for superior sound quality, I hope that means front facing speakers also.

I think it's going to get stereo speakers on at the top and one at the end like now, it's why they removed the ir port on the s6 plus and note 5, I.e. They will not be front facing due to the size of the phone

Sony made few products from magnesium... Some minidisc players..

Samsung said they will make a 5.2 inch and a 5.8 inch variant as well as edge variants. I really think they should make a 4.6 inch variant to compete with the Z5 compact.

But the leaked benchmarks show the sd 820 is crap.

They are running at a very low max clock speed. The 820's is 2.2-2.3 ghz. Then benchmarks where clocked at 1.6. An extra .6ghz well make a big difference.

I want mine made out of solid magnesium with a removable battery. Then I can add a faulty battery from a disreputable vendor, and when it explodes, the entire phone goes up in a spectacular, blinding light show. Chemistry FTW
