Refreshed Samsung Gear VR can be pre-ordered now from Amazon; headset ships August 19th
With the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 equipped with a Type-C USB port, Samsung's latest high-end phablet is not compatible with the original Samsung Gear VR headset. The latter requires a miniUSB port to work. So the manufacturer went back to the drawing board, and redesigned the Gear VR to allow it to work with both ports. In addition, the field-of-view was increased on the VR headset to 101 degrees from 96 degrees, and the touch panel was redesigned.

The refreshed Samsung Galaxy VR Gear can now be pre-ordered from Amazon. The headset will be released on August 19th, a week from today. That happens to match the launch date for the Galaxy Note 7. $99.99 will reserve you the product, and that includes free shipping. The device is compatible with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+.

It's the same garbage that Samsung released last year. That s**t is blurry. It gives me headaches.

maybe because your brain is laggy and can't handle 2k screen? try google cardboard and 750p screen on iPhone6s, maybe that will suit your taste

The HDR screen on the note 7 has literally no effect on the Gear VR...but whatever you say. I can't wait for mine to get here either

Mind elaborating why that is? I'd imagine with HDR 360 videos, the content would appear much better when vied by the VR headset. What's wrong with that thought?

Yeah, we need a 4K screen before it'll be worth upgrading to a new Gear VR. 5 degrees extra of field of view is not worth it. It'll still basically look the same. Often times with a screen door effect.
