RIM must've really seen something immensely huge in the popular Viigo application seeing that they've recently purchased the company that's responsible for the RSS-based app with the same name. The app isn't a stranger to BlackBerry users because they've been collaborating with the smartphone maker for many years by delivering a rich News & RSS application that simply integrates a ton of modules into a single hub for an easy and hassle-free experience. Even after being gobbled up by a larger company, Viigo will continue to do what they do best and provide its “expertise in BlackBerry application development and real-time content delivery to the BlackBerry platform.” Still, many people will enjoy knowing the fact that the application will continue to be available through the App World for free. There are plenty of guesses as to why RIM decided to make the move in obtaining one of their long time software developers as there were no financial details regarding the recent acquisition.
