Qualcomm's GameCommand app center takes on the Nvidia Tegra Zone, launching at CES 2012
As much as the NVIDIA Tegra 2 seemed to be the mobile chip superstar in 2011, the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 with Krait CPU aims to be the hot shot silicon of handsets and tablets this year. To further cement that notion and rival NVIDIA’s Tegra Zone arrives Qualcomm’s GameCommand app aggregator for titles running best on Snapdragon chips.

The GameCommand app portal was announced back in November 2011, but the news is that it’s now ready for prime time and it will make a landing at CES 2012 which kicks off next week.

Good news for those waiting to see what it’s all about and Qualcomm could bring some exclusive titles for the roll-out. Earlier, the chip maker denied reports about lifelong exclusivity of titles on GameCommand - the exclusive games will only be restricted to GameCommand for a short period of time, after that they’d go public.

So when should we check the Android Market for the app? Qualcomm says January 10th for the world, and “a later date” for the US. Now, we’re curious to hear what you think about chipmakers’ own app portals like the Tegra Zone and GameCommand. Do you use them and do we need more of them? Chime in with your opinions in the comments below.
