Plantronics unveil new Discovery and Explorer Bluetooth headsets

The new Discovery 655 is an ultra-light headset, weighing only 9 grams, featuring a small ergonomic design and thus enabling you to use it for longer periods of time. It can be personalized as it comes with three different sizes of soft gel ear tips and optional ear stabilizer. The carrying pocket that comes along with the headset provides secure storage and charging, when the AAA battery charger is connected to it, and it also vibrates on incoming calls. The miniUSB adapter allows you to charge it through your PC or your mobile phone. Other specs and features of the headset include:

  • DSP for noise reduction.
  • Up to 3.5 hours of talk time, increased to 10 hours with AAA charger.
  • Standby time of up to 80 hours.
  • Bluetooth 2.0 capable.
  • Volume, mute, last number redial.
  • Voice-activated dialing.
  • Fits either ear.

Plantronics also announced the Discovery 640E, a modification of the 640 but with fewer charging adapters at a reduced price. The 655 and 640E are extected to be available in August on the Plantronics website at a price of $149.95 and $119.95 respectively.

The other three handsets, part of the Explorer line, are aimed at the first-time users. The 330, 340 an 350 all feature small, lightweight design that fits either ear and provide you with up to 8 hours of talk time, while the 340 and 350 offer multiple color options. They all feature an easy one touch control so that controls can be accessed with a single button.

The Explorer 340 and 350 are expected to be available on the company website in Ausgust and will be priced respectively at $79.95 and $89.95. The 330 is to launched this fall at a price of $79.95.
