Sony mistakenly reveals its launch plans for the PS4 Remote Play

A mistake by Sony accidentally reveals that the PS4 Remote Play feature, on launch, will be coming to the Sony Xperia Z2 and Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet. The feature is currently an exclusive to the Sony Xperia Z3, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. The mistake showed up on the Xperia Lounge app.

With little difference between the Sony Xperia Z2 and Sony Xperia Z3, it might not seem like such a surprise that the PS4 Remote Play feature will be available on the older model. But what is a little surprising, is that Sony is planning on making it available on the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet immediately upon the feature's launch next month.

The PS4 Remote Play allows you to take your PlayStation 4 and your controller, and stream games to a Sony Xperia handset that supports the feature. This way, if everyone is gathered around the television to watch Key and Peele (Google it), you can go into the next room, turn off the lights, and start playing using your phone or tablet.

Thanks for the tip, Jake!

Sony is doing a good job by not ignoring old users

If by "old," you mean "purchased their phone in the last 7 months," then yes, that's good.

Nope, only the launcher has been ported, the actual app hasn't been released yet.

Yep and when the actual app is release it will also be quickly ported over

I'm betting that doesn't happen. Sony will lock that down tighter than a drum, given the competitive advantage it is. XDA debs get a lot of things ported, but there are things that have still eluded them because companies protect them, like T-Mobile's WiFi calling app, which still hasn't been broken.

Depends T-Mobile's wifi calling will connect to their severs and does some checks On the other hand Sony's PS4 Remote Play might not for local streaming, i.e. on the same wifi PS4 to tablet/phone so people on xda might be able to port it (like with the Shield's local streaming) But people on xda probably wont be to port the ability to stream games from Sony's severs (like how they haven't been able to port Nvidia Grid to non Shields) But yea we'll have to wait for the app to be release before we actually know

I have this set up on my Note 3 and just waiting for the app. But it's a good chance it won't work on non-xperia devices since we can't pair a DS4 yet.
