Outstanding cases for the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact

The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is arguably one of the best compact smartphones around and without a doubt, an exemplar of what the Android scene can currently offer - a well-equipped device that comes with a few issues. Still, we consider it to be among the better mini-sized phones you can lay your grubby mitts on right now, especially if large and hefty smartphones are a no-go for you.

So, let us imagine for a moment that you've found an Xperia Z5 Compact under the Christmas tree. Congrats! After the initial joy from your new device has settled down, you've probably noticed that the phone might be a bit slippery due to the frosted matte glass at the back. Additionally, the edges and the corners are further making the phone not that convenient for your hand. Unfortunately, this means that there'a pretty high chance of accidentally dropping the compact Xperia and regretting it ever after.

One of the things you can do to prevent this is to strap a protective case on it. As it's a high-end Sony device, there are a reasonable amount of diverse cases available out there. Sony also has a handful of stock cases for the phone. We will try to save you some time and show you the best of the best ones we could find.

Sony's official flip case for Xperia Z5 Compact

Get it from the official store

Sony's Style Cover case is definitely an enticing option for all those impatient to put their new Xperia Z5 Compact in a protective and multifunctional case that is 3H scratch-resistant. First of all, it's made by Sony itself, which means that it is most certainly a high-quality one; secondly, it is a wallet case that features a window up front that enables users to access many features of the phone without flipping the case open, similar to Samsung's ClearView cases for its high-end Galaxies. The case gives you access to your favorite widgets, up to five of them to be exact. You are also allowed to check out your emails, too.  The case is available in black, silver, yellow, and pink.

Case-mate Tough Case

Pre-order it on Case-mate's store ($30)

Case-mate's tough case for the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact might not be the thinnest or most elegant case you can put your device into, but it will most likely protect your handset from almost anything you can throw at it, all despite the fact that it is not the most rugged accessory out there. Combining two silicon layers with a hard plastic shell, the case is certainly among the grippier ones you can get for the Xperia Z5 Compact, which is certainly employing a somewhat slippery exterior.

Case-mate Barely There

Pre-order it on Case-mate's store ($25)

Another noteworthy Case-mate offering, which will keep the added bulk to your phone. The Barely There case, just as its name hints at, is one of the more unobtrusive transparent cases we could find. Despite this, it still flaunts a handful of bells and whistles to protect your device from damage, like a raised bezel to protect the screen from scratches, as well as resistant shell covers at the back and at the sides, which is more than welcome. This case is available in black color, but its transparent version is the one that is unobtrusive.

OEAGO Tough Rugged case

Available on Amazon ($27.99)

Available on Amazon, this case is for those who are into kickstand-equipped cases. OEAGO's offering for the Xperia Z5 Compact does not only come with a built-in kickstand, but will certainly protect your device from accidental damage as it's as rugged as it gets. It has a shock-absorbing TPU shell inside and a tougher hard plastic shell above it, which will certainly protect your phone from fall damage. The TPU protection is especially reinforced in the corner areas, which are crucial.

Terrapin Slim Fit

Available on Amazon ($7.95)

Although it's inexpensive, this case for the Xperia Z5 Compact is a rather good one, if the several positive reviews on Amazon are to be believed0. This one features cutouts for all ports and buttons except to the SIM/microSD card slots flap, and as you can clearly see, the Terrapin case is one of the more unobtrusive ones. Available in smoke black, red, blue, and transparent color options.

No mini smartphone comes close to the compact series of Sony.

Tech21 has some decent looking cases as well, similar to the CaseMate Tough

Aluminum bumper case is still the best. Using the red one from twdevilcase.com

Expensive A.F.... but definitely a good case... though I like my Z3C naked now.... the wrist strap helps me avoid the falls.

Is it worth the potential signal loss?

No experience of signal loss. And I always call thru viber and skype, very seldom on network-based frequency.

Similar problem with my S6! Too slippery, but Ringke Fusion smoke black case is thin, grippy and gives enough protection!
