Alleged OnePlus 6 leaks with a notch on top

Alleged OnePlus 6 leaks with a notch on top
What's with Chinese phone makers and notch-y phones these days? Granted, not even one first or second-tier manufacturer has put out a popular retail device with a screen cutout at the top, but there are plenty of leaks for ones in the works, and the latest comes for none other but OnePlus, everyone's favorite viral marketer of a phone maker.

What you are seeing below, coming from the wide prairies of the Chinese tech blogosphere, which is known for manufactured leaks, is supposedly a OnePlus 6 prototype, meaning that we may or may not see this design in the phone's final form. It's a known fact, however, that OnePlus designs are loosely based on models of another phone maker in its parent company conglomerate - Oppo - and the upcoming Oppo R13 is said to house a notch at the top as well, so where there is smoke, there might be fire, too.

The pictures you see below have subsequently been deleted by the blogger that posted them, but the cat is out of the bag already, and we are noting what could be a glass back to aid wireless charging, a P7819 model number, an elliptical finger scanner underneath a dual camera set, just like on the Galaxy S9+, and an Essential Phone-esque cutout at the top of the screen to house the earpiece and the front camera.

Well, it's narrower than on the iPhone X, but wider than on the Essential Phone, so OnePlus may be doing their own thing here. The phone runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo, and has 6GB/64GB memory configuration, which, for the OnePlus standards, could be the basic edition of its next 6 flagship, or whatever it gets called.

Why? You probably wouldn’t notice it too much because the black status bar on either side. Aren’t android spec monkeys all about screen real estate?

31. RebelwithoutaClue unregistered

Because the notch is ugly af and it annoys the hell out of me. You might not consider a notch ugly or deal breaker. It is for me. And I am not a spec monkey, the current phone is fast enough for me (3T) but I want a phone that has IP rating and has great custom ROM support and dual sim. Besides I don't use a black status bar, it's usually in the colour of the app or semi-transparent. Also, I usually have quite a number of notifications so I do need the room in the statusbar

I'm sure people have noticed it, but only shills make comments about things as minuscule as that.

They try and copy most of the devices in the market. Now Huawei Mate 10PRo. I have to say both look great.

I imagined it would be worse. Camera is back at the center. I thought it would be a vertical setup in the corner like the iPhone X

Doesn't look too bad notch is smaller than iPhone X. Glass back looking good wireless charging should be present.

You don't need wireless charging if you have dash/quick charging. My previous phone had it and I never miss it.

Don't kid yourself, that notch is stupid. Atleast is smaller than Apple's, though.

Why do Chinese manufacturers need to copy Apple's design? That Vivo Apex though.

Why the f**k Android manufacturers always try to copy bad design solutions from Apple?!? Like no sd storage, no audio jack and now the stupid "notch".

Because Apple sells millions and millions of phones so somebody apparently likes them. Call them ugly or stupid or whatever childish name you can throw out there, Apple brings home the bacon.

it seems minimizing the bezels are easy, why is Samsung still keeping that bottom bezel?

Because they have 3.5 mm headphone jack And why you think it's easy? Only Apple have been able to remove both top and bottom bezels.
