Note 5 release date pegged for end of August: sealed battery, manually ejectable S Pen
The case maker Ringke put up for preorder on Amazon a few svelte Note 5 case renderings, based on the leaked dimensions, schematics, and whatever they could grab from internal sources, as these things usually go. What we noticed from these renders, however, is that the S Pen is flush with the surface, and there seems to be no method to pull it out the way we used to on the Note franchise, unless you push it in, and it pops up automagically. This could have been an indication that Samsung will make good on its patented auto-ejecting mechanism for the S Pen, but equally so these renders might be just wishful artwork.
Well, today anonymous sources cited by Korean media confirm that it is the latter, and the Note 5 will feature a manually ejectable S Pen, or, you will be popping it out like with all previous Notes so far. Not only that, but the sources confirmed that Note 5 will come with an embedded battery pack, sealed off by a premium chassis made of glass on the front and back, with metal side rim surrounding the phablet.
This adds more water to the rumor mill that Note 5 will take its design cues from the S6, while in its turn the source reconfirmed the launching of an enlarged Galaxy S6 edge Plus alongside Note 5 on August 13th. This S6 edge Plus, they say, will be very similar to the Note 5 in looks and specs, but lack a stylus, and have curved display on the sides, just like its smaller namesake. Both 5.7" phablets will have a release date pegged for the end of August.
In addition, Samsung will be unveiling another smartwatch on August 13, called Gear A, claim the insiders, with a circular screen this time, so there's plenty to look forward to in the next few weeks.
