Nomura: 46.5 million units of both Apple iPhone 6 models will ship in Q4

Nomura: 46.5 million units of both Apple iPhone 6 models will ship in Q4
Japan's Nomura Securities has released a report to its clients, in which it says that the 4.7 inch Apple iPhone 6 will be called the Apple iPhone 6 Air. The report also states that the 5.5 inch variant of the device will be known as the Apple iPhone 6 Pro. Earlier this year, there were rumors circulating that the next iteration of Apple's iconic smartphone would use the "Air" name.

Nomura's report also says that Apple will be asking $650 for the Apple iPhone 6 Air and $750 for the Apple iPhone 6 Pro. Another analyst has suggested that we could see a higher price than expected for the phablet-sized iPhone 6 Pro, because of the possibility that it will employ more expensive sapphire glass. Currently, the 16GB Apple iPhone 5s is priced at $649 off contract.

The Japanese stock and bond broker predicts that 46.5 million units of the iPhone 6 (both models combined) will be sold in the fourth quarter of this year. Nomura also estimates that once the iPhone 6 launches, it will account for 73% of global iPhone sales.

Thanks for the tip!

Oh it will, this time they will combine iPhone 6 "Air", iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and iPhone 6 "Pro" sales to once again dupe everyone. The year after, they'll innovate with a new method of accounting for sales and combine the sales from the previous year's launch weekend and sell EVEN MORE iPhones.

LOL.. they released 2 new phones and counted the sales of both during the weekend opening. How is that duping? I bet you that number would have been even higher if they said "shipped" instead of "sold" :) https://www.apple.com/pr/library/2013/09/23First-Weekend-iPhone-Sales-Top-Nine-Million-Sets-New-Record.html

It was strategic to wait late to release a larger sized iPhone It was a very smart move to not jump on the bandwagon. You can disagree, but I would say their panel of experts paid millions of dollars probably have a better plan than shotgunned opinions by people that make less than 100k a year doing nothing smart phone strategic planning as a career Just a thought, not a fact

Jumping on the bandwagon late is still jumping on the bandwagon.

Being almost three years behind the market is not "strategic" unless you mean "epitome of bad management". As Schiller mentioned, it has been clear for quite a while that customers wanted larger phones, but Apple didn't have anything for them. So Apple is fixing this, finally. Hopefully they will also listen to all the negative feedback they got on iOS 7 and fix their half-ass UX as well.
